Hey guys. Thinking about getting the door sill protectors for my Access Cab. Also thinking about painting the "Tacoma" part of the protector, if possible. Do you guys with the door sill protectors see this as plausible? Thinking about matching it to the exterior, Impulse Red :)

    Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the door sill protectors that come from toyota.
It depends on how good of a painter/taper you are as far as painting the letters.

They're just thin rubber-like material with adhesive backing. I was a little disappointed. They don't really cover enough to "protect" much in my opinion.

I wish I had just gotten an adhesive backed plastic or rubber film from one of the industrial catalogs. For the price of toyota's stuff, I could've gotten enough material for a dozen trucks.

Thanks for the reply totmacher! Which body style truck to you have the protectors in? I'm wondering if they coverage will be adequate for the Access cab body?

    Thanks!

I've got access cab. It came as a 4 piece set. I'll get a pic here in a little while for you.

pics attached. See that jagged edge near the front (left) edge? The metal eyelets on my work boots did that to it in under a year. That's as bad as it got though. Oddly enough, the paint is fine, boots didn't do anything to the paint under where it has ripped off the edges of the sill guard strip.

Thanks for the pics. I'm assuming you just eyeballed where to put these on the actual door sill?

Mine are being shipped along with my bed mat, so I'm anxiously awaiting these 'protective mods.'

    Thanks for your help!

After you take the plastic sill thing off, the "protector" butts up legnthwise against a long raised body seam, there are a few notches in the protector that line up with small bend in that seam. Real easy to see after you take the plastic sill off.
