thats right. the ifps are definitely progressive. i drove all over the parking lot medians at work tonight and you could barely tell you were dropping off of them. but i have taken them to 50+ off road and they still do great hitting pot holes. they were way better before i put my bumper on but they still rock

Oh and emulsion shocks, usually seen in rear shocks, are were the nitrogen and oil is mixed together in the shock, a remote resivore usually will hold a floating piston dividing the nitrogen from the oil, same with the piggy back.

Here is what the coilover bible says , If the valving is progressive, the rate of change of stiffness increases as velocity increases; and if the valving is digressive, the rate of change of damping gets less as the shocks velocity increases.

So ya I think you want progressive since the stiffness increases as velocity increases. Unless you want more dampening when your going slow? I'm not sure. Are you suppose to want more dampening when going slow since you won't be going fast, or less dampening?

And if your wanting to go fast, do you need more dampening when going fast, or less dampening?

OK looked around some more and progressive is for low speed stuff, rock crawling etc. Digressive is for high speed stuff. Each have there draw backs and each which will be different on a number of factors not just, digressive vs. Progressive.

I want a soft suspension at low speeds that will soak up the rocks and bumps. Ill never be going over 20mph off road so I feel like I won't need a digressive shock. But then again everyone says how they love their icons off road so Im not sure. Guess I gotta do more research

Icons are great for everything but crawling imo. Stiff suspension at low speeds in the rocks? No thanks lol. Foxes kings and ORIs are all I'll go with

I don't think so but it shouldn't matter. I think it just depends on personal preference and budget

Ya you have to get aftermarket UCA's if you get the extended travel shock, at least that what I've heard. It doesn't necessary have to be a uni ball.

    Oh okay never mind then.

And im looking at either the icons or fox's, top 2

    http://www.headstrongoffroad.com/coilovers-tacoma-05-6-lug.html

What I don't like about icon is that its a 13 inch coil so you have to preload it that much more to get height, I haven't been able to find what fox's coil is.

Less preload then to get the same amount of lift compared to the icons then correct? I'd assume its probably the same spring rate and length. What do you think about those fox ones Phoenix?
