Until info is released that this truck will come stock with the Michelins LTX MS2, I don't believe it will be... That spare tire is not the tread design of the M/S2 or A/T2. Who puts on 4 not 5 like tires from factory. Unless it is not a full size spare. I doubt that.

Don't get me wrong. I loved my MS2s. Hope they are stock. Just don't believe they will be.

It took me several days to realize i was not liking the grille. Specifically the notched design, which i see reflects the ridged design of the molded plastic bumper, or visa/versa.The smaller headlights and new angular lines of the truck are growing on me. I could see alot of folks modding the grilles, first thing. Although after seein the mod thread w the satoshi grille, the stock grille isnt even bothering my eye that much anymore, just appreciating the new lines. I look forward to seeing people w these new trucks on this board.

I'm glad so many people on here are hating the new Tacoma. Maybe it will be a sales flop and I'll get a huge discount when I buy my 2016? Yeah, wishful thinking, lol.

It's kind of got a pudgy nose, but I do like it... I really don't like the taillights though. I already have ideas swirling around in my head as far as modding is concerned. Powertrain, powertrain, powertrain I can't stress it enough. That's the only real weak point with the current one IMO.

Quote from the MSN Autos page:

    "
    Toyota Tacoma

The Toyota Tacoma is one of the longest standing production vehicles on sale today. To say it’s due for an update is a bit of an understatement. An all-new model will debut at Detroit packing a new 3.5-litre V6 motor and new Tundra-lite styling. Is it enough to give the new Chevy Colorado a run for its money?"

If their info is accurate, there's your motor.

    I hope for 19 city/ 26/hwy/22 overall for the V6
21 city/28/hwy/23 overall for the 4cyl, but I highly doubt it.......

Here are my thoughts, coming from the new guy here....

First, there is now way that Toyota was going to change the Tacoma SO MUCH that it ends up looking and feeling like a different truck. You have to understand that Toyota knows that they have a very loyal following when it comes to Tacoma's. That is why you never see any incentives. It would be extremely risky to essentially blow up a truck that you KNOW everyone already likes. Yes, they should have addressed some of those minor issues that were referenced earlier, improved the interior...and maybe one engine modification.

I see many of you complaining about things that can easily be changed by YOU once you buy the truck. Things like chrome tail lights. ...easy. It is possible that Toyota is trying to also attract some additional buyers who want something that does not look like an off road truck.

For me, I am looking for those improved interior comforts and fuel mileage. I am also using the truck for business (sales) and sometimes have to load customers or co-workers into my vehicle. So, I do not want something that looks like it ran the Baja yesterday. Well I DO want that but I cant have that.

Here are things that I would change about what I see in the new Tacoma.

    1. Agree that front valence is way too low. I would remove it as soon as there was a lower profile aftermarket option available that can be bolted on it its place.

    2. Why the hell do they still have a manual sliding rear window? My 2003 Explorer Sport Trac has the entire back window that goes up and down with a knob on the dashboard. I cannot imagine pulling over every time I wanted to crack that sliding window. So stupid. Almost as stupid as having to go outside to lock your hubs before going into 4wd.

    3. Light switches on the inside of the pickup bed. One for the bed area and one for a light that would illuminate the entire area around the trailer hitch. Messing with that stuff in the dark sucks.

    4. Hard tonneau cover that is not an aftermarket dealer sourced option.

Now, stop your whining. As a Tacoma buyer, you are getting a lot more than what you would get if you bought a Colorado. Ever see the pickup bed in that thing? New, it looks like a metal wheel barrow. It is a piece of crap. Interior feels like the old small blazer that Chevy used to have.

I will need to replace the 2006, so I will likely be a buyer. Looking forward to seeing the OR model.

I noticed there are no mud flaps on the Limited or the TRD Off Road Tacomas from the pictures I've seen. Are they getting rid of those for good or was it just for the photoshoot?

I hope they are gone, as they were for Mall Crawlers as they snap off with any contact in rocks or ruts... I even had them rip off from mud weight! That was on my 2005 when I thought they were cool, with the 4x4 on them and all, and kept putting them back on when they broke off. My 2010, they broke off the first month on my first 4WD test of the new systems... and I never put them back on. There has been no paint damage without them on my 2010.

The reveal sucked. They mentioned nothing about the drivetrain other than it'll be offered in a 4 cyl and a 3.5l 6cyl coupled with either a 6spd auto or manual. All he did was talk about the styling, no hp/tq numbers of fuel economy. I did hear him say "composite bed" which makes me sad. They talked about the TRD OR and talked lightly about the pretty sweet terrain selector, detail about the crawl mode which sounds promising. Mentioned about a different steel process they used on the trucks, maybe this time the chassis won't rot after 10 years. Power moonroof, qi cell phone charging, go pro mount in the windshield, tailgate with lock and has lift assist (from what I saw it'll still have the same weak tailgate). Looks like they're using the same storage compartments that are used on the second gens. Wheels will be offered in 16, 17 and 18" and truck will be offered with leather. Looks like it'll come with a bed light, finally! Front valence was mentioned, easily removable and there for MPG gains. That's all that was mentioned that was worth mentioning. I'm looking forward to power numbers, mpg and then cost.

qi charging not g wifi, and composite beds have benefits over steel. I too am banking on the new frame lasting as I will probably get one of these trucks.

My bad on the charging. And yes, composites nice but damn is it slick when wet. I'm a sucker for spray on liners on steel beds. Also, I had a bunch of steel in the bed of my truck and there was nothing I could do to keep it in place. It was raining and everything was sliding around, corner went right through the composite fender and now I have a hole in my bed. :(

I could get a rubber mat but I use my truck as a truck and its a PITA (fairly heavy) taking it in and out when I get mulch, stone, etc.

I'm going to guess for photoshoot. A lot of states require them (my state does, MD) which sucks. I cut my down to make them look a lot better.

    2014 Ford FX4 F-150 V-6 Ecoboost 4x4 ...

It's my daily work truck. Creature comforts are great at the FX4 trim level that's really the only big + is interior bang for buck. However and I have nothing to gain or lose by telling you this, again remember 70%+ of this trucks life thus far is in fact (off-road) I have approx 15,000 miles on it as of now. Asthetically outside I think it is a good looking truck truthfully.

1.) I have the 5.5 foot bed, the ride highway is great, off road it rides like a lumber wagon no joke. Looking into fox replacement suspension to give my chiropractor a break from visits.

2.) Best MPG I have seen and it is obviously well past break in is 17mpg tops.

3.) Dash molds are better now but first 10,000 I thought a parakeet was living in my dash, literally everything squeaks and I think most of the contacts have rubbed out by now.

4.) It's due to go in shop within next few weeks as the front end ball joints are almost shot already. That or there are other culprits as it has become very loose.

5.) I had the front plastic crap under-pan come off 5 times until I threw it away after it got balled up by turbo nearly intoxicating me from plastic bomb burn smell etc... Replaced with aftermarket skid plates that cost me a grand...

6.) The box seems to be seperating at the front weld joints on drivers side, now has seperated approx 5-6" back.

That's where it is at now, it has to last 75K miles but I don't see it happening not without some major money thrown at it based on what I have seen so far. For a city truck I think they would be great, as an off road truck I am truthfully not that impressed as it has shown great wear and durability issues already.
