What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The birfs were stock toy pickup ones I have spares, and spare hubs.. No worries. I knew they wouldn't hold up forever.. Not to 35's and being locked. I said id wheel em till they broke and id upgrade. The diff was fine. But I've had a few people want my front axle so ill take the opportunity to go ahead and buy a new dd/tow rig and just build mine.

 

I have a trailfail axle. I don't have any complaints from the housing other than its god awful ugly. The inners are TG shafts, nothing wrong there.. Just the outter are Toyota that I'm aware of and my two spares are toy. Puttem in and on my way. Ill get chromoly shafts and trunion eliminator and call it a day while I build new axles. TG would not be my first choice for axles but I got everything for the front and rear dirt cheap though I used like 10% of tg shit on mine. I made my own brackets for hanging everything. And sold all the crap I didn't use. This axle will pay for a new one, at least the housing

Until it breaks, or when I get bored and recover from the cost of the sas. Would not be opposed to a new engine. Initially though i figure why waste the time and money to swap out something that isn't broken

I've done the Rubicon forwards and backwards about 10 times, on stock birfields, and stock steering. Never broke a thing ('84 4runner, 22R).

I wouldn't blame the parts, maybe its the driver

It's the first tacoma that I bought.......therefore first gen.

Anyone have any clues as to why my front differential breather would be sealing gear oil? It was change about 12k miles ago. Hasn't been in any water in over a year. Hasn't been in 4x4 in about 3 weeks

 

Lets see.....

Last week I installed a new Tom Woods driveshaft while chasing a nasty vibration issue. Happy to say the the problem is about 99% gone. Still very minor at 40-42 mph.

Yesterday I installed a new thermostat, flushed the cooling system, oil and filter change and a new bank 1 O2 sensor to fix a PO420 code.

Next weekend it's installing my new skidrow gas tank skid. That's pretty much it for a while I hope but I do need to replace all the body bushings eventually as there's about a 1/2 inch gap between the washer and the mount
