TRD OR will now include these. Looks like 4runner and FJ have had them for a few years.

How useful are these do people think? I can't seem to find much online other than reviewers just blabbing out the same press copy of how it makes things easier for inexperienced drivers (well duh).

Anyone actually used these features on other Toyota models?

Better travel with some older trucks and have a complete set of tow straps because not goign to get far with that.

Well, yeah, that is my assumption. But figured someone might have direct experience with a 4runner or FJ and could comment on how useful or useless it is.

    So far, however...

It's one of those features manufactures add on cause they think it might help the off road crowd. Toyota has anoff road racing division. They have added the usual bells and whistles including ATrac, LSD and so forth and now crawl control. What is comical to me is, for some reason some people are dissing this feature without ever owning or driving a lick with it. Some who are proud owners of 2 wd trucks and never have or don't now off road modern trucks what so ever, diss them like they are experts. Others take the sane approach. Talk to some one who has used it.

Every one of the features that Toyota has added to their trucks has been useful to me, some more then others.

I haven't used the features, but from what I've seen on demo vids on YouTube those features seem totally awesome to me. I'm not a die hard purest thou.

Look on the FJ or 4runner forums for info. BlueD doesn't know what he is talking about.

Yeah I don't get all the complaining. Their adding some sweet features without taking any away. L2 would be sweet thou. I haven't thought about that. But would that be the same as just gearing down to 2nd in an auto tranny? Doesn't cover MT thou.

The previous gen 4 runners had AWD with lo range which allows you to drive on pavement. It WAS great for maneuvering a trailer on a paved ramp. It had a separate locking button for the differential.

I doubt you can find 2 lo in a truck based 4 wd with just transfer case with no center diff. After all, low range and Max traction go together.

Yup some Toyota trucks have AWD Low. Thats with full time 4wd transfer case. My Wife truck has that. I can put on 4L and not lock center differential and its running in AWD L.

Organizing the traction controls is a doable good idea. You're right about the push button controls that seemed to be placed with no logic whatsoever.

In some ways, I miss the manual hubs. Most ways not. As far as AWD option, toyota and the higher cost of AWD and a locking option meant installing a center differential which they are unwilling to do in their cheaper trucks. Heck, they removed it in the new base and mid trail of the 4 Runner. You CAN get AWD or 4 hi on road mode in the Colorado.

Wish Toyota came out with a neutral for the transfer case so the vehicle could be towed with all four on the ground. In the mid size PU only GMC/Chevy Canyon/Colorado can be towed with four on the ground.

Anyone know if the multi-terrain select is available on the trd sport also or is it just the offroad? I read some articles that said it came in both but I figured it was only on the offroad?

MTS and cc are only on the OR. The Sport comes with the same 4x4 system on the Sr and SR5

So, can anyone tell me if the MTS is worth anything in snow? I live in a heavy snow area, and am looking for what's best suited for winter driving. As far as I could tell, the MTS did not have a snow setting, but you'd think the mud setting would be similar. Any input?
