Only in straight line unloaded acceleration.

I owned a 05 Tundra 282/271hp and also drove a 2011 Sprinter van for work. The Tundra was a beast off the line and much quicker than Sprinter if you're flooring it like a maniac. One day we hauled 5000 pounds in the Sprinter and about 5000 pounds trailer/weight of the same stuff in the Tundra. Off the line and freeway cruising the Sprinter excelled (I drove both). Sprinter stayed in 5th on all the hills, Tundra didn't. Sprinter got up to 45 cruising speed easier and quicker and almost felt like it was unloaded.

Might as well shove that 282 hp right up your ass because its only at top end. They both have 325 torque but Sprinter starts at 1400 rpm and keeps going but Tundra only begins at 3400 rpm.

    Funny thing that torque.

I think the previous post refers to the standard V6 that will be offered which would be the 2GR-FSE.

Re-read what I wrote. It SOUNDS like the 3.5L V6, with D-4S that has been ADAPTED to have Dual VVT-iW. There is only one engine currently with VVT-iW..... the 2.0 Liter Turbo in the Lexus small cross over.

I'm stating that that output should be very close to the Lexus direct injection 3.5L V6 however it will be more fuel efficient because it can change engine cycle under low load.

If they plan on using the 2GR-FXE, which has been around for quite some time, why would they not have given the HP specs? That wouldn't make any sense. It would seem this new engine is a variant of some sort. Otherwise there wouldn't need to be any information withheld. This would also be a reason the MPG numbers were not given; the EPA couldn't have tested it yet. If they were to give MPG numbers and then the EPA comes up with different numbers they'd be up shit creek. ;)

Agreed. Looks boxy. I prefer the old shape but yeah, it may grow on me.

I hope the non-offroad versions get at least an LSD. Open diffs are for economy cars.

like stated it looks to be an adaption onto the main 2GR-FSE with d-VVTiW the motor will likely have a new 2GR-XXX designation.

aint gonna happen, they wear out, and auto LSD does a damn good job.

They did say it was an 'all new' v6. For whatever that is worth.
    All they said was Fall.

I didn't hear it myself because I wasn't listening closely at the start, but someone else said they heard "available in the fall" was said. Hopefully someone with better ears and attention span than me can confirm or deny.

EDIT: OK, like twelve people replied and said "fall" while I was typing my semi-useless response. So I guess it is "fall".
