I'm sorry but having drum rear brakes does not make a wheel look very good.. ):

Yeah, it's the torques that is needed for towing. I had the 4.0L in the 2012 Tacoma and now the 4.7L '05 Tundra. Towing the same trailer, gear, occupants, and terrain the extra torque from the 4.7L makes a difference holding speed. I had the Tacoma's gas pedal to the floor much more often.

Crawl control was introduced in 2008 on the Land Cruisers then on the 5th Gen 4Runner Trails in 2010. I've used it a few times and it works well, it'll damn near go where you point the tires.

And this made me laugh:rofl:. From Road and Track.

"Every new Tacoma will also come with GoPro mount on the rear view mirror, so you can capture the thrill of your trips to Target."

Just watched the replay on the Toyota site. The presenter was terrible and his voice kept cracking, also had to stop stop cracking up when he kept trying to emphasize how "tough and badass" the new Tacoma is as well as the joke he tried to make at the end about watching your step since "this is an off road stage".

Cool to hear about the new traction related tech, and is something that I'd look for when buying a new truck. The gopro mount thing is cheesy, as well as the semi-Jeep interior IMO and I don't get why the Tacoma needs a Limited trim level. Hopefully the mechanical/performance specs will be more head-turning that the reveal of the exterior.

I'll be curious to see if you can get the moonroof on anything but the Limited.

I'm not a huge fan of the TRD OR with the black flares, but I get why they did them.

Depending on what life throws at me, when I finally need to part with the AC, I can see a new DCSB in my life, cosmetically modified (at a minimum). I think my streak of ARB bumpers coming to an end though, sadly.

I like it. The seemingly logical possability of 300hp and 28mpg hwy is appealing, plus the new tech inside. I really like the way it looks too. I'll likely trade or sell my 2011 in for one in Jan 2016.

You'll be waiting awhile. My dealer just emailed me that early availability is expected in August.

Not a fan of the "muscular, aggressive" hood and front end. TRD grill looks better than the Limited.

Would be nice to have full factory leather instead of leather trim. Leather is so easy to keep clean, condition it once a month with Lexol or saddle soap and it looks beautiful for 20 years.

Dual zone climate control is nice, I wonder if that's available on the Access Cab. I also wonder if the Access Cab rear seats were upgraded.

Offroad I bet it has the same 9.1" stock ground clearance, would like to see it up to 10.5 inches.

Acceleration vibrations will be a key for me. If it shudders like the 2012 from 18-22 MPH, no way I buy one. Too irritating to go through that fifty times a day.

there was mention of a atkinson motor being paired with the gas motor. Does this mean some sort of hybrid drive system like a Prius? If so, are bigger tires doable without confusing the electronics?

Atkinson cycle. Not Atkinson cycle motor plus an electric motor. All 4 strokes at once with one revolution of the crank for an Atkinson cycle.

And since the new Tacoma will come optional with 44s on the xtreme offroad package it shouldn't be an issue.

The Atkinson is just the type of gas motor. A little different than typical Otto type motor. What they are referring to here is actually a modified Otto that has some Atkinson features (variable strokes, sizes, lengths etc.... long story).

One thing I'm a bit worried about is finding a model that "has it all". Let's say you're prepared to spend $40k on your next truck and you're shopping the GM twins and the Tacoma. You want the offroad goodies like the locker and suspension but you also want the interior of the limited and the sunroof. And the unpainted fender flares of the Offroad have NEVER appealed to me. I bought a TRD Sport brand new in 2009 and after not having a locker for that many years I SWORE I'd never make the same mistake again.....DON'T MAKE ME :D
