I disagree, the 12+ tacoma was a refresh, the 14+ tundra was a redesign minus a new drive train. The new tundra is completely different than the older tundra, where as the 12+ tacoma was not a whole lot different, especially in the interior.

For all the ignorant people who think this is still the same gen, how much did you really think they were going to change it? The 2nd gen already has a modern design. Would you all rather it look like the a bat?

Is that enough change for ya?
They could not change it too much, they still wanted it to be a tacoma.

Blah blah blah. redesin or not a redesign. Who cares at this point? This is what Toyota has given us for at least the next 5 years. Time to focus on the differences, which are many. This will be my next pickup provided the cost is not astronomical.

I know some people like to argue for the sake of it. But they saying the 3rd gen is not a big difference from the 2nd gen is hilarious. Find some other detail to argue about.

It's a substantial difference, but I agree it's not a FULL redesign. Toyota, automags, and this forum are calling it a new generation so I will live with it.
The frame is enhanced, has some additions to make it a bit lighter. The good part is Toyota finally gave us a new motor. There is still a manual, and they didn't turn it into a crossover.

So new front end, tailgate, taillights, body molding, interior, engine, transmission, and sunroof isn't a redesign but a refresh of the current model? By that logic then what about the newer Wranglers compared to the 1950's Wrangler, just a refresh all these years and never a redesign?

I wonder if topper manufacturers get information prior to everyone else? I have a topper on my Tacoma and my next Tacoma will need one too.

You forgot the new rear end, transfer case, and changes to the frame. But no way, it's basically a 2nd gen with a slightly bigger grill. :D

I guess it's possible but I think it takes time for them to get all the info they need in person to mass produce products just like all after market parts

Not true, a couple flip floppers final got it in their head, it's a redesign and not a just a 2nd gen with a new engine & tranny only. ;)
