Yea it is definetly not legal in any way shape or form.

Same goes for a places selling HAMs to unlicensed people.

HAM is the shit though. But its NOT even slightly close to the same as using CB radios. I like mine though. Its fun.

Put Redline MT-90 in my manual transmission. Haven't had the truck long, but it was very notchy when it was cold, and required a bit more oomph to put it into 2nd, 3rd and reverse than I liked.
The MT-90 seems to have fixed this for the most part. Even on a very cold day like today.

The maximum legal wattage for a CB radio is 4 watt carrier. There is no specified maximum modulated power but a nice clean siginal would be between 12-18 watts. You could try for more but you start to get beyond what the CB final can handle, too much heat and spurious emissions off frequency. If you need to understand what a carrier siginal is, look up radio theory for amplitude modulation and that will explain the siginal more.

If you have a CB that has a 14 watt carrier and 18 watt max your siginal will sound compressed and chopped. Your audio will be quieter then a radio with a 4 watt carrier swinging to 12-15 watts.

Radio Service Centers does "tune ups", I thought he set his carrier siginal to only 4 watts, 5 tops. The swing was to about 16 watts with his 520s. He also does an alignment (not really sure you need that on a new radio for 4wheeling use) to get the broadcast and receive on the same frequency. If you like talking skip an alignment could be valuable.

Haha yeah man, I'm a terrible impulse buyer but for the money there was no way I was about to walk away. Trailered it home and drove the 82 four hours back to the house!
