ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
Wow nice shot! And the truck looks sick!! Really need to make it out again and get a few photos. And play in the dirt with you guys, guess I need to start saving some pennies for s front kit. MT up front is nice but would love to update the kit to keep up with the rear. Course than I'll want links to replace the rear kit and so on and so on...

But back to the point glad you got some good photos of the new build, looks sick.

For a long travel set up, do you have to purchase new knuckles to accommodate the longer axle? Or will stock work?

Depends on the kit. TC and Camburg both use the stock spindle, but if you have a 2wd you can run aftermarket lift spindles with nearly any kit.

If your 4wd I suggest gusseting stock spindles/knuckles. If you run them stock as is they will bend.

I don't think there is enough market for it. It would be interesting to know how many sets of extended axles TC has sold, I bet it's under 50.

Very true there is almost no market for it. TC makes most there money off of government contracts now.

And that's going to dry up sooner or later because of the end of Afghan. A lot less need for up-armored Hilux's.

Who LT's a 4wd? It's rare man, guys with enough money to do that swap in a solid axle, link it, and run coilovers and end up with more travel and strength. In retrospect that's what I should have done. Plenty of fast solid axle trucks around. Plus there are very few 05+ tacos, FJC's, and LC Prado's racing with 4wd, and those that are (dakar, rallyraid, etc) usually fab their own shit. Just not much of a market.

Look at that crazy shit. It works though...

    exactly.

i have broken enough stuff with my LT 4wd now that i could have sased my truck with links and be a million times stronger and hold that skinny up the rocks.

so I broke ANOTHER diff at superstition. only had 4500 miles on it. I think the reason these keep breaking is because the axle hops so much in loose dirt and sand. I don't know how to describe the hop but its like if the wheel gets traction comes off the ground spins fast then lands and gains traction again, only like 100 times a second. what can cause this and how can I fix it? Im running the cantilever still with the canti tie rods off the back of the axle. 2.5 10 double bypasses valved to 8 rebound 20 comp

OK. The reason I asked is BC I came across some aftermarket spindles designed by TC, but the cup where the CV enters/conne ts with the spindle is appx 1/4" deeper than the stock spindles. So, I didn't know if this would cause issues with stock CVs...I spoke to a few people and got mixed feedback. So I thought ID ask you guys. I like the fact that the spindles are gusseted and if I can still connect and torque the axle nut to 180 ft/lbs I don't see the issue.

Let's see a pic. As far as I know they haven't produced a set of 4WD spindles. They have gussets for factory spindles, and these.

    ...too much shit to list.
What you are describing is axle wrap. Three things:
    1) Pinion angle
    2) Valving. But since you have a canti setup...good luck.
    3) Most important...Get off the fucking gas pedal the instant it starts to hop. It's a lot cheaper to get a tug job.

I've never busted a R&P living by the above. Broke a side gear once...but that's cause I banana'd the axle.
