Awesome, next Saturday is a "for sure" trip. I'll post an invite below.

 

Ok everyone this coming Saturday 1/17 is a definite trail trip to Peters Mill Run and it will be the last one before the trails close for winter. Here is a link for the "event" that my brother created on Facebook: So far we have my Tacoma, a Cherokee, and a Ram going. Let's get some more Tacomas to join! anyone happen to know of a good butcher in the area? I'm going to be making some more beef jerky soon and will need to get some meat

haha not a problem. I found one in Alexandria that looks pretty reputable. I guess I could always just invest in a sharp knife and do it myself too..

Where in Arlington are you located? I'm picking up my keys today and moving on Saturday - apartment is located at the intersection of 395 and South Glebe (more or less the Shirlington Area). It'll be nice to meet up at some places in Fairfax or Chantilly and not have an hour and fifteen minute drive home afterwards like last year at the meets.. being 9 miles from my office instead of 28 is also a big plus.

 

Right on. I'm a little west of Ballston (off North Carlin Springs just North of 50).

 

Little secret. Go to the local grocery store and you can ask the butchers there to cut the meat to whatever you specify. They do NOT charge extra for it. As long it is a cut they sell.

 

Glad I stumbled across this thread. The wifie and I were going to head out to peters mill/taskers gap a couple weekends ago. I used to ride my four wheeler up there and would always come across the jeep guys on the trail. kinda scary taking a brand new truck up there...plus its completely stock too. I worry about the tires (rugged trails).

The mid Atlantic overland guys have a meet this Saturday 1230-5 The Greene Turtle, 177 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

I did some winter camping and wheeling with some of them last weekend.

 

Come out with us this Saturday! You'll be fine on stock tires. The main trail isn't difficult at all ... it's all of the crazy side trails (mostly for ATVs) that will get ya.

 

Oh nice. I've got a project site for work that's right near there (kinda). It's across the street from the mall though on Wilson.

I haven't had good luck doing that. My problem is that I need like 6 lbs sliced and most meat departments don't have slicers and deli's won't use their slicer with raw meat

That's the guy I was looking at. Seems to be pretty reputable. How easy are they to work with?

 

We like going there due to there customer service and they carry exotic meats as well.

Perfect. I mainly just need beef sliced but I've been having problems finding grocery stores that can do it how I want.. Just looked at their website though and it's nice to know I'll have a source of venison
