I really really really wanted to like the new Tacoma. My family loves Toyota products and they've been good to them. But when I went to the dealer and saw a 2015 4x4 Tacoma V6 automatic with a TRD Pack cost 34 grand out the door I was floored. The Tacoma is no doubt a good truck, but about 10k over priced. I knew based on the recent "Updates" to all their other models(rounded edges) that the new Tacoma would have no significant updates from the outgoing one.

I went and bought me a 2014 Certified Dodge Ram quad cab 4X4 with a 5.7L hemi with 395HP and 407TQ, 16k mlies with a 7 Year/100k Warranty for 25k out the door. How in the hell does a 5.7l Hemi get better MPG than a V6 Tacoma?!?!?!?! There's something seriously wrong with the Tacoma platform if an American Truck with 236 more HP, weighs 2400 pounds more gets the same MPG as a 4X4 2.7L 4 cylinder. Also I can't imagine that the Ram will require over $9,000 in repairs VS the Tacoma to make up the price difference. On top of that I got WAY more truck AND a longer warranty.

No disrespect to the Tacoma, but tons of disrespect for Toyota Corp. for taking advantage of their name and selling vehicles far above what they should be selling for. They're a bunch of thieves.

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
    Did the suspension configuration change?

What does this mean, in regards to the new Tacoma?

You had 1st gen and 2nd gen aftermarket parts to sell......now you have both of those, plus 3rd gen parts. Your product line just increased, you now are bigger and appeal to new customers.

    See what i'm saying :boink:

Congrats on the used truck. I can't believe you would actually use this as your point..but I'll bite. So, you bought a roughly thirty five thousand dollar truck for ten thousand dollars less, a year later. My god. Can you imagine how much you'll get for it if you tried to trade it in? My 4 year old Tacoma I'm gonna be trading in for 25k, and that's above KBB, because I know they're just gonna turn around and price it at almost 30! I can't even count how many guys on here have told their horror stories about trading in a Toyota for that new and shiny Dodge or Chevy or Ford, only to kick themselves in the ass MAYBE a few years later when it starts falling apart, and then they have to take a huge hit on the trade in or resale just to get back into a Toyota.

So, insert Joker clap gif here, I'm on my phone, congrats on your newish Dodge, seeya back here in a year.

Lol, gotcha. I'm not as concerned about the big aftermarket companies, I know they will still turn a profit regardless (but I still want to see what they come up with for armor).

I was more curious how it might affect offering from some of our own vendor/fab'ers - who already have extensive wait periods. An influx of happy new Taco owners wanting to "armor up" combined with, what looks to be, a more intricate/involved bumper design might be a lot to manage.

We've seen good vendors get overloaded, and R&D for the 2012 was an arduous process for others. I was just thinking about the redesign from a different aspect.

Some may embrace the challenge and opportunity to make new designs, other might be pissed and hate the new design. :notsure:

Im one of those guys, I traded my 2011 for a shiny new full-size GMC Sierra with better MPG and shiny gizmos, I soon realized it was going to become a piece of shit in a few years and took a pretty nasty kick to the gonads trading it in 6 months later to get back into a tacoma. Lesson learned.

Exactly. Sorry to hear that, and Mr. 5.56x45 it's nothing personal, I'm just saying, coming onto a Tacoma forum to bash the truck price and lord your Dodge purchase over us, perhaps wasn't the best move. I'm sorry to hear that you've moved on from the Toyota family, and not being a dick, but we'll still be here when you come back. I've had way to many buddies lose to much money on the Big 3. Buddy of mine picked up a brand new Ranger, bout 6 years ago or so, a year later he got a call from the dealer offering him like 16k as a trade in for a newer truck. He was actually a little happy about it. Hell, I didn't even have a Tacoma then and I still thought that was a little wonky.

I think some Egg head went for a ride in someone's truck who had the GoPro mounted there and was like "EUREKA! A NEW SELLING POINT! GET GOPRO ON THE PHONE ASAP!!!"

The sad thing is, I know for a fact that alot of chumps are going to eat that right up and make that a selling point. Buying a vehicle because it's got a mount placed perfectly for them.

    Sigh.

Totally agree. Hats off to Toyota for making something so simple as that mount, an additional great selling point for the Tacoma

My last two vehicles were a Ram and new Cherokee. I was looking hard at the Tacoma's but picked the Cherokee due to MPG and Technology. Haven't even had it a year and am kicking myself. The new transmission has known issues that the service team can fix but requires half a day in the shop. The sad thing about Chrysler products is the post sell. Haven't found a good service shop yet. I was always treated like the most important customer in the world at any Toyota dealership.

I've also checked the value of my Cherokee that I bought below invoice, plus rebates, and 6k down. I'll be lucky to get 3k back on it.

I should have stuck with Toyota. I will say that when I first saw the new Tacoma, I wasn't blown away, but the more I see of it and hear about it, the more I can't wait to drive it.
