Tails on the OR remind me of the Nissan Titan. I'd like the easy-down tailgate and the new head unit if it's like the new Subarus, but other than that I'm glad it didn't make me wanna upgrade from my 2nd gen.

Gen 3 looks awesome. Really like it over the look of the Gen 2. Awesome. Interior pics look great too.

Not true. It may have immobilizer chip that is required for the ignition, but the connection to starter itself is still pure mechanical connection (at least in most cars with a key I have seen).

For example, with a manual transmission you can move the effing car using starter even if it does not start.

I agree push button start sucks, because of the stupid interface. Were it a rotary switch mimicking key behavior (including mechanical connection to the starter), I'd be totally in favor. Would be easier to get into ACC mode as well.

    Wait, what?

Toyota's push button start is SIMPLE. No foot on brake, push button, in ACC mode. Put foot on brake, push button, engine start. Push button, engine off.

    Done.

It still sucks. Button is a stupid interface (almost as bad as a touch screen). Rotary knob gives you a better tactile feedback.

But "button" works for better from marketing point of view. You are case in a point.

Besides, I don't put my foot on brake when I start my cars. I don't drive slushboxes like most (total f**kcing pussies in this country).

Don't be crass, kid. Drive a Toyota with push button start for awhile and see how much easier it becomes over the long run, and then shut your hole. If you don't a car that has it, you have no reference over the convenience of it.

I'm not a fan of push button start either. I don't get the draw. I've never gotten into a car and thought "man putting this key in and turning it is too hard". I have thought man this stupid electronic thing broke and now I'm stuck.

Electronic features are great when they are in fact an improvement, but just putting gadgets on cars that add no value is a waste.

Overall I like most of what I'm seeing of the update. Curious to hear about the mileage and power improvements.

whats to say they don't pick the lock, also the exhaust and engine better be loud, unless it automatically cuts off with the fob removed. I can already see the headlines.... idiot leaves truck on in garage, walks in next morning and dies from inhaling all the gasses

My IS250 has it and it has great advantages, like leaving all your shit in your pockets and keeping your hands free, also like the fact that you can walk up to the car and the parking lights come on like your vehicle recognizes you and the main fact that when I grab the door handle only that door is unlocked.

Same for the trunk, but the greatest advantage I found is you will NEVER Lock your keys in the car again, it recognizes it and simply will Not Lock ANY Door . . .

that beige is terrible. Not a fan. The wheels look like they came off a subaru.

I sure hope the sport model looks better. I am a big fan of the limited look.

any release on the other wheels? Still waiting on the sport, SR, and SR5 wheels...

To be fair, it's still two levels of security: mechanical and electronic. If the cuts on the key are wrong, it won't turn in the ignition, so you won't be able to start it even if the immobilizer chip is correct. If the key is cut correctly but lacks an immobilizer chip or it isn't programmed, it won't start even though it turns (my 2011 just cranks forever).

Precisely. It's simply a new set of habits. With the fob in my pocket, I simply walk up to my car and as my hand touches the door handle it unlocks. I put my foot to the brake, push start, the engine starts. Put it in gear and go. Easy. Nothing to think about, and I don't have to screw around with bags or an umbrella in my hands and juggle keys when trying to get into my car. Easy. Can't lock the keys in the car when: a) the fob is in my pocket, and b) the computer won't let the car be locked externally when a fob is inside. They're small improvements that add up to create a greater convenience.

As reported before by someone who "never presses the brake", I have to question how he takes it out of gear. In every car I've owned since a 1978 Toyota, the brake has to be depressed in order to release the parking lock.
