Just by looking at the thumbnail (not enlarging) the picture looks like modified 2nd generation. And that's what the public will see when looking at these trucks. By not changing the cab at all they've just added another new nose (and rear this time) to the 2nd gen look. So, the general observer will see the same truck on its 4th new front end. Not exactly wowing the masses.

It's a new truck, cosmetics not withstanding. If it saves me money buying it by Toyota not racking up additional retooling costs in San Antonio - even better.

3 things that it has that I wish my 2014 had when I bought it
    • heated mirrors
    • outside temperature
    • locking tailgate
just 3 little things that would have made my '14 perfect

It's maybe 30-40% new? Maybe 50% if you're generous? Toyota saves the money. Not you.

The sheet metal on the cab is different. The cab frame may be the same but the sheet metal is a little bit different. Look at the double cab rear side window, it has more of an angle on the bottom portion compared to gen 2 (where it says Limited) and the crease running down the truck on rocker panels is more pronounced then gen 2. Yes the design is similar but to say it is EXACTLY the same its really not.

I will put money on it goes up at least 2-3k in price. Those extra goodies are gonna cost and toyota isn't going to cut into their current profit margins. I bet an off road double cab similar to the one debuted will be 36-38k.

Engine, transmission, some exterior and some interior. I'm sorry but a new plastic dash and center console is not a new interior.

Toyota will lose some market share to Chevy, Nissan, and HOnda ( if the latter two develop actual new models) over the next few years with this model. But Toyota is setting the bar for average with this model. I would guess and hope for the segments sake that this happens and forces Toyota to develop a real redesign around 2020.

There you go with the name calling. I wish I had the time to pull up all the thread bashing you did saying it wasn't the same cab or brakes or suspension or frame. Its the same cab with new sheet metal, same suspension but "improved/retuned" the same frame but "improved/strenghtened". But whatever dude.
