What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It's funny because i had this same discussion with another member. He liked it going down the fender while I do not.

Personally I still love this solution the best (because I eventually want to run glass) and I think it looks really clean. The only thing that throws off teh look is the size difference between the intake and the tube.

This is much less likely to get smashed by trees rocks or other things on tight trails than the ones on the out side of the fender.

The snorkel conversation is always a polarizing one. Some love them, some hate them. Some just don't need them. I've had a snorkel on several trucks, my Tacoma included. For me the snorkel has been primarily for dust, protection from hydrolocking is an added bonus. A snorkel is cheap insurance. I'd much rather pay $400 for a quality snorkel than shell out thousands $$$ for a new motor after hydrolocking it. You can also say just don't do water crossings. I've had trips that took us into an area in southern Utah for a day and we had to come back out the way we came and there had been a big rain storm that caused flash flooding in the area. A water crossing that was 10" deep on the way in was now 4' deep. Sometimes water crossings are unavoidable. Best to go prepared.

Of course everyone just thinks its a way to look "expo". Whatever.

I'm trying to get information on how to do this.

I'm having skygear build me a harness to clip on to the back of my OTRATTW switches. I want them to dim with the dimmer on my dash.

Can you help me out on what you tapped into? Or if you know if the dimmer circuit contains both a positive and negative?

My truck is a 98....

...anyone else feel free to chime in too.

I've got the carling switches and have them dim with the dash lights. We'll get it figured out....

I agree. I'm not a fan of that tube running down the fender, but if it fits and it can save me money, why not!

Rotated the tires and found this fellow napping between the lugs. Yea, in January!
Laid him out proper, for the curio case.

 

I used wire taps directly on the wires to the dimmer switch.



One tap is on the white/green wire and the other is on the green/red one, then I ran them to the switch like this:



The first time I wired it up backwards and the switch dimmed opposite from the rest of the dash, try not to do that as I read later that it can fry the dimmer.
When I finally get around to the rest of my switches I'm going to jumper off of the back of the closest one.
