    BTW, I spoke with the Fastenal here in Boise, their store number BKID, and it sounds like they are used to getting in bumpers.

    I see that for the front one but the back one has angle iron tacked on to where the led cutout would go

    My guess is the angle that goes from wing to wing is to hold that dimension stable while the rest of the bumper is welded, so it doesn't twist or warp from heat (which the Al is more prone to do).

    As for the other piece of angle over the LED cutout area, I have no idea on that one.

    I know nothing about welding but ive "heard" that aluminum is susceptible to warping from the temperature ranges experienced during the welding process. Perhaps the angle iron is supporting the shape to keep it from twisting/ movement. That's my best guess.
