Not seeing the "for the most part, people seem to be happy", especially if I look on internet outside of TW . There is always controversy when something new is released, but there was a huge positive outpouring for the new Mustang, the new F150, the new Corvette, the new Miata, or the new Canyon/Colorado. That's because those companies quite clearly put a lot of effort into those redesigns. Not so here.

I have covered my opinion of what they could have done differently elsewhere in the thread and the forum, so I will leave that part alone for now.

I was very disappointed that there was not a V8 option introduced.
Yes engine technology has come a long way, so the same efficiencies that V6s are seeing, so are V8s.
V6s make the same HP/Tq numbers that V8s were just 8 years ago.

90% of the time the V6 has all the power you need. Its when your truck is loaded up with gear on a long road trip and your gear hunting because youre losing speed on every incline. It's brutal.

Also there would probably be a MPG increase in Hwy mileage and a decrease in City mileage. Ah well.

Maybe the V8s wouldnt be popular, but if they offered them to buyers and we waited for them to be built (ordered), I would be a happy camper.

I guess Ill be keeping my 2010 until the wheels fall off.

Right there with you man. I've had an 05 4x4 DCSB and now my 12 PreRunner DCSB and I am really looking forward to driving and picking up the new 16 when it is available in the fall. Of course people are going to complain, but the fact is that Toyota DID make some significant changes and upgrades, which is enough to make my want to pick up the new truck.

    V8? Probably not..

Diesel... remote chance, but not anytime soon. That's the opinion of someone fairly high up at corporate Toyota (the diesel comment, never asked them about a V8, that's only my opinion).

I guess here's my opinion. Take it or leave it, its just my opinion. I have been a loyal Toyota owner for 20 years. I have a 2011 supercharged double cab Tacoma and a 1994 1uz V8 4runner. I have owned many more. I like the creature comforts of the Tacoma, but the out of the whole power of the 4runner. The supercharger is nice, but sucks on fuel mileage. I was looking to upgrade the Tacoma if a more fuel efficient Tacoma came along that also had the torque I needed to tow the flat bed trailer with the 4runner on it or what ever else I was looking to tow within reason. Even better would be a solid axle diesel powered Tacoma. Wouldn't need the 4runner anymore then. ;)

I know Toyota did a V8 solid axle Tacoma a few years to display at SEMA. I know they have toyed around with a diesel as well.

I didn't really like and still don't like the 2012 body style, however I do like the looks of the 2016 Tacoma. Is it the same cab with a new face and butt? Yes, but I do appreciate the updated look of the front and rear end, and I am sure I would like the new interior. What I am not liking is the choice of the 3.5 liter Atkinson engine. while they don't have any solid numbers printed yet, it seem to me that this motor based off of the research I have done is not a better motor for what this truck is supposed to be able to do, i.e crawl control, ( better off road ability; from Toyota it self). It appears to be an engine that is designed for slightly better fuel economy. Fuel economy that sacrifices torque. Now maybe I am wrong and this engine is the next best thing to sliced bread, but I was really hoping that a diesel was coming. I am leery of buying a new truck with an all new engine for this type of application. Diesel is tried and true, they already have a platform that has been successful for many years (Hilux from Australia)

I guess I will just buy a rotopax and keep my Tacoma I currently have. It is lifted and already has a supercharger, and wheels and tires, and, and, and, ect, ect, ect.

Too bad a diesel didn't come to market, cause if it had I would own a new Tacoma!

You mean wait for marketing material.

    Toyota:
"Yes we know we installed crappy engine, but look at the GoPro mount, If you still concerned about lack of power we provide optional 5 gallon bucket of Vaseline for the times you get rear ended by 18 wheelers while trying to climb a hill."
    :D
They took time to Design GoPro mount in the truck but would not allow V8 5.7 that is already produced and can be easily fitted as the option.
Tells you right there where Toyota priorities were.
Toyota wants to produce Ridgeline. Let them, we see how many of them they sell.
I sure they fix issue with oil leaking from those 3.5 V6 engines and killing engine.

Also that desing of radio/vents area looks liek 80's tape deck. Probably Ugliest radio Dash ever designed.

toyota's supposed to tailor the 2016 to my SPECIFIC wants!

theyre a horrible company that doesn't care about the customer because they didn't read my post last year about the specific things I wanted; if they really cared, they'd style it exactly like that one photoshop that me and three other people agreed looked cool, and would include $60,000 worth of equipment but price the truck in the same $27k-33k market.

Shit, if they cared about us at all, they'd have included a W16 quad turbo because this new V6 that nobody knows about or has seen will obviously underperform, based on complete speculation and the fact that I'm an american and want things to be gigantic; efficiency doesnt matter

Hell, I have complained that these trucks need better MPG, but will now complain if toyota releases a more efficient/better MPG engine, because it's smaller.
If toyota had released a larger engine, I would probably have complained that the truck is too expensive and that toyota doesn't care about us because they've effectively alienated their target demographic with a $50k truck

Agree. I thought that I hear mention of high strength steel used for the frame and body panels, along with a hot stamping process. Alloy steel would address the frame rot.

I do read the forum as currently I have a 150
Most of the issues are with the eco crap or Ecoboost engines..ford is pushing them hard.
    Lucky I have the 5.0
That said it has other issues and I'm still waiting for the taco..miss my old one and well..let's just say the ford was a midlife crisis purchase. .live and learn
