And despite being a little 2wd, the 1st gen looks the best. Especially the '95-97 sytle

01-04 are the best Tacomas out there. I'd like to find a TRD 4x4Extracab manual in good shape.

Will you lock the thread if we "respectfully disagree" with you? :stirthepot:

Actually, I had an opportunity to buy a 2004 Tacoma. Bought a Corolla instead because I could pay cash for it. The Roller has been great, but I still regret the decision.

I agree on the 01-04 Tacoma are the best for the 1st gens. It have the best of everything on the 1st gen. The 3.4 is waaaay better then the old 3.slow engine. I sometimes miss my 2004 though and thought about buying another one but seeing the used truck price lol...... never mind :D

Nah, I'll just ban you! :D

THey are the perfect size for what I did with it. I never needed a larger towing capacity. It was a good size truck too that kicked some ass off road.

Is it some kind of a challenge for you guys? "I got a game we can play! Let's go in, argue about stuff we don't agree on and watch threads get locked".

I don't agree with a lot of people and I choose to not respond to them (there's been once or twice where I have). Whether it's a difference of opinions or baiting just let them be and let it go.

It still has the flat sitting car feel. They should have done bettef seating and more cab room.

I let it go. I learn some stuff from him so that's why I ignore some of his opinion if I don't agree with it.

Just to play Devils advocate for a minute...

Perhaps Toyota is afraid to diminish the resale value of previous year tacomas. They know they are the top reselling truck of all time, and maybe they are afraid to effect that. So by having subtle changes, maybe they think it will help maintain the resale value of our older vehicles. Just a thought.

I think this is going to be an awesome bad ass truck. It just wasn't what a lot of us expected.

A lot of the things people are claiming to be new, to me are actually carry overs from other vehicles. The tundra tailgate, the four runner lower valance, the e-brake has moved, to the same place many other vehicle have had it for years.

It's a 3rd Gen because that sounds cool. Quite a bit of changes, upgrades. Probably more changes than carryover. The sixspeed auto is probably what the Tundra has had since 2013 I think, so it's proven. The 3.5L is proven, but in a Tacoma tuned configuration, and I believe this is a first for it with the Otto/Atkinson cycle. No doubt better MPG's, or they wouldn't have done it. More HP for sure, don't know about more torque.

Looks like the Access Cab gets the same inadequate rear seats, disappointing. Looks like the overall length increased four inches, so Access Cab and DCSB will be 212 inches, DCLB 225 inches.

ECT/PWR switch for the auto trans, I don't know if the multiterrain and crawl control is all that big of a deal.

"Enhanced" frame I guess is the description, no telling if it will have rust problems. Good to hear there was an emphasis on making the cabin quieter. The suspension basically the same setup. Brakes the same, ground clearance the same.

this is gunne look like a dumb question....but it is serious, as I am currently unsure of the answer.... what if you sate an opinion, and afterwards someone goes off? i mean its happened here many of times, never quite sure of who is right in the end of those.

The one thing I really don't like is that they changed the tail lights they look too similar to the tundras which are fugly. The front also looks too close to the new 4Runner's.

Agree only saving grace is we can retrofit and black em in. That will make them appear nicer. That and I can see some aftermarket solutions that will eventually come into play.

Give them a few year and a redesign taillights will happen. Same thing happen with the 05-08 switched to new LED taillights 09+ Tacomas.

Interesting. The taillights are my least favorite part and are permissible. But the '09+ looked the same, just with different lights right? I think the problem with the '16 taillights is the overall shape which would require re-paneling upon refresh.

They went from regular halogen bulbs (05-08) to LED bulbs (09+)
