2015 NCAA Football Thread

This is really the only thread I'm active in anymore. Plus, there's been times in the past where I haven't been active on the thread at all.

 

This is really the only place I'm active, too.. but it's b/c I don't have my Taco anymore. I'm just glad y'all let me stick around.

 

Here is my ultimate problem with the committee. They are susceptible to biases no matter how much they deny it. If it was Texas and Oklahoma in the spot TCU and Baylor were in there is no way in hell the committee would have left them out. At least one of them would have got in if not both. But because TCU and Baylor are newer, less storied programs they got the boot.

They need to bring back a mix of the computers and humans. Computers in my opinion even out what biases humans bring into the equation. It's all about those checks and balances.

How can you say an undefeated P5 conference champion doesn't deserve to be in?

My problem with six is then we go back to the same bickering of who is the top 2 just like the BCS era. With that said I definitely don't think 8 is the solution either. Some years we'd have multiple 2 lose teams in the playoff which completely devalues the regular season and turns college football into college basketball where it's only important for one month.

I honestly don't really know what I think the best solution is but they're not paying me to figure it out either so I'll leave that job to somebody else.

 

Bear with me here, and hopefully the FSU guys can remain objective and see the situation for what it truly is...

It isn't that they didn't deserve it as much as other teams were more deserving. FSU was the 2012 Notre Dame team. They, too, went undefeated BUT clearly weren't on the same page as the other top teams. Did they "deserve" the shot? Yes. Were they worth wasting the spot? Clearly they weren't. With FSU it was just a matter of time before a legit contender blew them up. They were squeaking past terrible teams all year.

The committee, IMO, should have been able to recognize the program's faults and multiple narrow victories. It's their goal to determine who the BEST teams are, not who's most deserving. I think a playoff spot was wasted. I also think Oregon may not have made it to the title if they played a more solid opponent.

They benefited greatly from starting at the top. Any of the other 4 (Bama, Oregon, OSU, TCU) would have mopped the floor with them.

I'm well aware of the win streak, but can you honestly say FSU was one of the best teams this year?

Say they had a loss as well...that's 5 with a loss. Do they get in?

Heard on the radio earlier that Cardale Jones was considering the NFL. Because of course. OSU has 2.5 NFL quarterbacks playing for them. Also, there is a man named Cardale that will make more money than everyone on this forum combined.

 

Also, Dak is announcing his decision on the draft tomorrow via SEC network.

Then the playoff is doing exactly what you want it to. It kept a team that you felt shouldn't to be in a national championship out of it.

Every team had very visible flaws this year. There was no clear cut number 1.

We did benefit from starting at the top but so did Bama and Oregon. Preseason polls always favor those who start at the top. Look at Mississippi States rise to the top. It was fueled by wins over 3 "top 10" programs. Then when y'all beat them you magically jumped to #1 from #5.

Next year TCU and tOSU will have the greatest advantage because they'll be #1 and #2 in preseason. It will be their playoff spots to lose.

And to answer your question no we don't get in with a loss but we didn't lose, we ran the table and were rewarded for it. If we lost we would be in the same situation that Baylor and TCU ended up in. Winning should still be the most important factor in deciding the teams who get in.

 

Actually.......The season was over at halftime You could of started it then.

 

Also it has nothing to do with me being an FSU fan. I don't objectively agree with his opinion at all.

If another team wins every game by 1 point next year I will say they belong in the playoff.

 

No he is not considering it. He has already stated he is not ready for the NFL
