yeah. they took an incredibly successful class-dominating truck and upgraded the engine, tranny, suspension and added a bunch of mod cons to bring it up to date. It's an outrage I tells ya.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If someone thinks / believes the new Tacoma is beautiful...then that is what they see. Like music, everyone hears differently and likes certain kinds of music. To anyone telling someone that the music they listen to doesn't sound good, or isn't their type of music....well, you simply cannot tell them what THEY are hearing. No matter how much you don't like the new Tacoma, and no matter how much you attempt to sell them something else, the more they will pursue what they really want.

The new Tacoma is for those who can afford its new gadgets and looks and shortcomings and lack of diesel engines and big nose. It's what they like.

Tell all of us how Toyota should have redesigned the Tacoma to your liking? V8 that gets 35mpg city / 50 highway rolling on 38's? Kneck and foot massager? 4,000 watt stereo system, DVD player to watch the Simpson's and 15" sub's?

    What else?

    DO TELL? :notsure:

Yes to all the above.....but I'm not totally sure what a Kneck is but I'll take it. :broccoli:

Oh, really a DVD player? That's so 1990's.....

Nano windshield wipers, 360 degree opening access cab door, self driving mode, square tires instead of round, same interior size as the Tundra but keep it exterior size to 1st gen, diesel motor for the gas motor for the hybrid motor run by 2 hamster only on during cruising speed, and 1st aid kit for all the butthurt people.

    Right
Which brings to question people sanity. If anybody complained about comforts they could have gotten Ridgeline.
I doubt Toyota addressed any real issues.
    Is frame boxed?
Is driveshaft now with double cardan
Is front differential now with 4 pinion?
    Are wheel bearings serviceable?
    Does transfer case have neutral?
    Is transfer case manual?
Have they soldered electric motor in ADD?
Does transmission have a dipstick so retarded service mechanic can actually check for transmission fluid?
Have they figure out how to paint frame so it does not rust in 5 years?

But they got GoProm mount. Really somebody though this and radio looking like 80's tape deck will be what sells them? Maybe rear stolen from F-150 lariat?

    Seriously WTF

You're the one who is still watching the Simpson's videos that probably came out in 1989, lol.

Anyway, tell all of us why you are disappointed in the 2016 and what Toyota should have done to the Tacoma?

    Do tell...

Your point? I guess you only watch videos that are from 2014 or 2015? Probably explains your spelling aptitude.

There are still a lot of unknowns, e.g. fuel economy, ride, sound deadening, seat comfort and height to name a very few.

I expect large improvements in each one of those which I don't see this "redesign" providing based on the fact it is so similar to the old truck in aesthetics and in size. Time will tell but I'm not going to rush out and buy a 2016 until all that information comes in and those promised improvements are VERY evident.

I don't think I would call the 2016 an "all new" Tacoma. Look at the pictures above. From 2004 to 2005, yes it was an all new Tacoma. From 2015-2016, idk...maybe gen 2.5..

Why do you need a boxed frame if the current design works? My 05 Colorado had a fully boxed frame and I never once catch myself asking myself why my Tacoma doesn't. Any truck that gets a lot of salt treatment frames/undercarriage rust within 5 years unless the owner treats it with some kind of aftermarket product. Trans dipsticks are going away, fact is not many people service there cars themselves anymore.

not beachin, but definitely not buying either! Specs or not, research shows the facts about this style of motor there using. I am guessing that every truck is going to have to be supercharged to get the numbers to be better than the current 4.0. Such a shame as the option to do more with engine choices was available. I am a Toyota fan but will wait to replace until the correct engine transmission combo becomes available, or I will just have to perform another swap like I did with the 1uz engine to replace an engine that should never have been used in the first place. The 3.0 we all know and love; what a joke that motor has been.

questions then google Otto style of engine vs Atkinson cycle engine.

(The Atkinson cycle engine is a type of internal combustion engine invented by James Atkinson in 1882. The Atkinson cycle is designed to provide efficiency at the expense of power density, and is used in some modern hybrid electric applications. Also called the Barta engine.) Doesn't sound like a motor for towing even small stuff. Don't think I have seen a Prius towing anything lately. Anybody see one? If so please post a pic. I can't wait to see this!!!

I've been waiting for the new Taco for years now. I love the truck BUT the speedo/tach are the ugliest things I've ever seen. I hope the powers that be fix it or aftermarket suppliers sell a fix. It's a deal breaker for me. Thoughts?

i moved into an f150 reg cab from a tacoma reg cab, sure at 1st i thought it was more comfy, clearly had way more power, it seemed like i was getting more bang for my buck, but you know what, i didn't. the mpg's are ok but not great, you must drive like the slowest most annoying granny on the road to get near the advertised mpg's. if you like getting out and doing any wheeling the f150 pretty much is like bringing your fat lazy friend on a hike, seems ok at 1st ( i had fox suspension on my 2014 f159). the full size just feels big everywhere but on the hwy. the ford isn't all but it sure isn't all great.

anyway if the only reason to not get the 3rd gen is because they didn't change it enough i think you might be dissapointed.

Sorry I didn't go back an edit my posts like you seem to do, lol.

In other words, when I can afford the 2016, I'll go out and buy one. LMAO.

The best thing about 1gen truck was that you could load bad full of sand and cab was not touching bad. You do that on 2gen truck and see how much it bends.
Payload and more rigid simple answer.
Not true not any truck. My LC is on 21 year in New England and frame is in better condition than my 2007. If you think that's unachivalble in new trucks. Just look at Hilux in Europe. Same amount of salt if not more and not a spec of rust.
As far as dipstick, don't care other people not doing service. There are more people doing their service just look at this forum.
I could add more to real changes that should be
Is rear axle 9.5 inch with real e-locker?
    Is rear axle full float?
Did they move front wheel by an inch so you can fit 33 with out lift and cutting cab mounts?
Is frame narrowing at front wheels so you can get wider tires with out rubbing frame?
Is stupid spindle redesigned so you don't need spacers or crazy backspace wheels for wider tires?
But all above would be what real guy would ask for. Women would be concerned about leather, moonroof, navigation and enough lights inside to fix makeup. (That's what my wife asked when we went for her car)

It's a hybrid motor: atkinson cycle for cruising speed and otto cycle for low end power and on demand power. It was discuss to death on the 2016 Tacoma engine thread til it got locked thanks to the bickering about which version of the 3.5L engine will go into the Tacoma.
