Nothing wrong with your thinking here, but in reality the group most of the issues you describe are a problem for is really a small amount. Most Tacoma's I see in my area are stock and they will not have the issue with upgrading tires and what not. Swears said axle is not 9.5 but 8 3/4" and I think he said optional 4.30 gear ratio. Pretty crazy your lc frame is doing so well, all my family lives up in western pa, vehicles range from fords ,chevy, Toyota, ram and everyone has issues with rust. The frame could be strengthened like they say but we will just have to see once we receive more info/ real world tests.

    Yup, guess you're lazy.

Are you laughing at your own perceived joke? I don't get it and I'm not the only one.

Seriously. I was actually thinking today about how much it would cost to have a new hood and front clip custom made. Too much, is the answer.

Many first gen Tacoma's suffered frame rust including my 2001, which was bought back. It didn't stop me from getting a 2nd gen, nor did it stop thousands of other people.
Neither my gen1 nor my gen2 had any major repairs minus the frame. Toyota bought back my Gen1 for 1.5 times blue book so there is zero complaints from me.

I would say my gen2 could hold just as much weight in the bed/on the hitch as my gen1, but the gen2 can actually haul the weight. The 3.4L v6 is a Dog.

gen1 got worse gas mileage than my HORRIBLE mileage on my gen2.
My 2001 was around 14mpg, gen2 is 14.9mpg and slipping.. fast..

I use my trucks harder than 99% of potential buyers.

I tow a 5,000 pound trailer 10 times a summer off road and through the rockies.
I load the bed up with piles of camping gear and house supplies.
I go way to fast down fire service roads often, and a few more serious trails

I have a lot of complaints with the current Gen2 Tacoma:
    Road noise
    Horrible seating position
    Heated Mirrors
    No sunroof
    Piss poor MPG
    Cheap plastic interior
    Outdated electronics
    Outdated Hvac
    A fob and a key
    Weak rear leafs
    Bad stock tires
    Low trailer hitch wiring
    No bed light
    Body roll when cornering

So far Toyota had addressed all my issues except for:
    No height adjustment on seats.
Rear springs (but we will see).

The Tacoma now fits the LUXURY truck that I want. I use my truck for work and pleasure, so I want a truck that can do both. I have no problem paying $35-$40 for a truck that is nearly perfect. I completely expect the 2016 to be $2,000 than the outgoing model. And assuming the engine has good hp/trq and gets 20+ for gas mileage I will be sold. I highly doubt Toyota will sell a truck that is slower 0-60, with less hp/trq and a lower towing capacity.

I am excited for the possibility of a Tacoma with an upscale feel and finally an engine that can achieve better than the 13mpg I have been seeing lately.

Yes it's a deal breaker! Have you seen it? I'd hate looking down at that cluster every time I drove it. It makes an otherwise great truck look cheap and poorly executed! Whoever chose that design should be fired!

The 3.5 is a powerhouse. It's proven and reliable. I've driven 2 of them over 200k towing jet skis and other trailers most of the way! The motor shouldn't be a concern. What concerns me is the hideous instrument cluster. The numbers are sideways and crammed together. It takes away from an otherwise well executed design. FIX IT TOYOTA! Please!

Yep, they took a great truck and made it better. Not sure why anyone would be disappointed

true but every car has its potential. I drove one for a while when i was in the middle east, solid trucks.

always liked the flat bed hilux (minus the stacks), like this one :)

Ford didn't need to take any money. They sold off a TON of assets before the big hit because they wanted to be liquid "in case there was an economic crash coming" -

Yes that's the actual words from a high representative at Ford in a video interview - you could probably find it on youtube.

    I smell a rat.
