I am hoping for at least 280 HP and 290 torque. 300 TQ would be nice but hey, so would a million bucks.

Good gas mileage is a big deal these days. Toyota HAS TO increase their average mileage and the Gen 2 Tacoma V6 is, well a gas hog. I can say that because I drive a 2012 V6 Taco. I like the vehicle and will keep it for probably 20 years, but 17mpg if I drive easy is pretty sad. My V8 GMC Sierra (2WD) was 3 mpg better. All the mods I have done are detrimental to MPG, but it is not my daily driver so the tree huggers are just going to have to suck it up. I wonder what the new 3.5L V6 can actually do for MPG in a 4WD Tacoma?

I'll interject, you get what you pay for. I've got a 2010 4Runner Trail Edition with 65k on the odo and 5 years of ownership. I've lifted it, put an ARB with a winch on it, wheeled the piss out of it and to this day she's a solid and sound as the day I drove her off the lot. I don't have erroneous vibrations, I don't have rattles or squeaks from the dash or door panels, or engine knocking sounds. It's built on a proven chassis (LandCruiser Prado's 150) and by far the best vehicle I've ever owned. This is after 1 Hilix, a Chevelle, CRX, '81 K5 Blazer, '93 4Runner, two 2003 Tacomas, 2005 Tacoma TRD OR DBCsB 6 speed, '98 4Runner, and a '08 FJC.

Toyota is the ugly duckling everyone loves because it is the vehicle that takes them everywhere they need to go every time you need to go there. And it does this for everyone from the people that take it to the dealership to have every box checked off even if it is not needed to those that never take their car to the shop for years, even to change the oil.

Then they take their car to the dealership and trade it in and are sometimes shocked because they are getting so much for it as a trade in.

As far as looks, I believe the only beautiful car Toyota ever made was the Supra, and we all know that story. I do like the way the Tundra looks now, but when it first came out, I wouldn't even notice one. And don't get me started on the T100, yuck.

But then again, beauty is in the eye...

    Too few to list.
17 mpg? You're lucky. I averaged 14-15 city with my mods and 19hwy if I keep it at 60-65.

Holy hell! I get 16-18 in the city and average 20-21 on the freeway at 70 with my mods.

So 90% of peak torque starting at 2000 RPM, flat thereafter until the peak jump at 4800 RPM, then back to 90% of peak torque to redline. Dual VVT-i, and the Otto/Atkinson cycling. Sounds like Toyota has put their top grade V6 into the 2016. And the Tundra six speed auto trans.

That's not as much as I would have guessed, do you trailer tools at the job or?

Correct. Pretty awesome to get 90% of the torque at 2k rpm and pretty flat torque to 4800 rpm then the vvti kicks in and it goes 90% again to redline.
On page 12 of that pdf I posted shows the power and torque curve.
