You've peaked my interest as JL makes some awesome products. That is the brand I run in my truck if you remember. When you get a chance get the model number of the amp. I'm like Dennis, I think you don't have enough power and you're trying to push your amp at 100% all the time. So it will shut down to thermal overload. Where is it located? Are the heat sinks able to breath? Does it have a built in fan?

ive had the issue of mine randomly stop playing and it was the ground on the amp wasnt good enough, the light was coming on saying power was there but in fact it really wasnt. do you know how they ground it?

the boss amp is what 1000 watt peak 500 rms? if you look up boss amps there are multiple videos and threads about them reading at like 75 watts instead of 400 watts and so on, starving the sub of power can also kill it. best idea is to buy a hifonics amp they have been proven to put out what they claim and are a lot cheap than an alpine or a jl

Saw a new F-150. It was a 2x4 and it had a major rake in the front. It looks like a cross between the Econoline and an older F-150. Also saw a new Expedition.........I could get behind a KingRanch edition.
