To put restrictions on my license they need to give me, in writing, precisely why they are restricting my license. If they don't have a proper reason, I can fight it in court. My chief would restrict every first time applicant and remove restrictions upon renewal(6 years later).

Edit: It's worth mentioning I'm referring to my LTC.

The longer it is the straighter it will track, but the less maneuverable it will be. Probably a good compromise would be around 10-12 feet, ish.
The short ones are more maneuverable, but they tend waste more paddle effort by swishing back and forth as you paddle rather than tracking straight ahead.
The longer ones are great for lakes because the translate more of the effort into forward movement rather than side-to-side, but they can be tricky to maneuver around rocks in fast-moving water.

I've got an older Old Town Predator 14' that tracks very well and is very stable for fishing. I can use it in fast water, too, but I have to plan ahead and pick a line more than I do when I use the GF's Otter 10'

John I bought a 10 footer and it is great in rivers and good on ponds/lakes. Swing into bass pro and take a look at them. The 12 footers are huge, my buddy bought a 12' sit on but only because he goes out to the ocean/harbor with it

I have a 12' and a 14.5' yak. The 12' is a nice balance between tracking and maneuverability imo.

Cool glad to hear it. Did you end up getting the handle with a camera in it?

Thank goodness. Hopefully they revamp the front end so it isn't so ugly by the time it's actually released :)

I converted mine to an X-runner this summer. Not that exciting; a lot of body roll and slower acceleration than I'd like. Nice smooth ride, though. :D
