    I drove many push button cars for months at a time, thank you very much.

    But you don't get it. The keyless start is great. Love not having to look for the key in my pocket. Hate the implementation. The effin' BUTTON. Give me rotary knob that feels and works like a key and I am 100% on-board.

    Lol, you're gunna try to start an argument? Most newer cars go through the BCM. The battery connects to the computer then to the starter. The ignition switch goes to the computer which gets the signal to start the car. Almost every car does that now. It's a 100% valid assumption since most all the other Toyotas start this way.

    Help me out here, please. Also understand that I support your argument, however...while I'm pretty good at math, you lost me by having the words "100%" and "most all" in the same sentence. Simply put, starting a car takes a lot less electricity than it used to, thanks to these computerized systems. Less stress on the components, they last longer, everybody wins. Let's just chalk it up to progress, drink to a brighter tomorrow, and return to arguing about things that matter...

    ..like than tan color. Are drug mules their intended audience? "We can camouflage it for you right at the factory!" Thoughts?

    I don't think letting your truck idle for 10 - 20 minutes is going to do anything harmful at all to the engine. Care to explain why idling is not great for your engine? What harmful effects will it have?

    Letting the engine idle for 10 minutes or longer wouldn't be bad for the engine. Just starting up and taking off in the freezing cold could be. I know people who have at least ruined slushboxes doing that.

    Even for automatics? Some states here don't allow remote start on manual transmissions. Nights like last night, where it was 10*F (-12*C), I'm tempted to get one.

    What I meant was my assumption was "100%" and then separately "most all". Sorry about the confusion.

    Older cars the battery goes to the ignition switch then to the starter using the key as a way to complete the electrical circuit. But now cars go through the BCM. (Body control module). So ALL cars with the push button work the way I explained where it just sends a signal. Most cars with a key type switch just turns the gears to make it feel like you're actually doing something but all it is is sending the signal to give the go to the BCM to complete the circuit.

    My friend has a 250 with the V10 and it works that way with a key. You just turn to the start position and let go and you can hear the starter fire up later and each cylinder turn. It's cool stuff.

    I understand I may have confused people but I think I just explained myself well.

    I agree on the color. Hoping that if budget allows I can finance a 2016 DCSB OR in the "quicksand" color and use my 2010 and the trail truck only.

    Letting the engine idle isn't bad. It's actually good and recommended. If you just start it and take off right away. The oil pump hasn't had enough time to push oil into the main bearings in the crank nor the valves in the head. So it is recommended to idle for at least 15-30 seconds to let the oil flow a bit.

    15-30 seconds is a different animal than 10-20 minutes.

    Idling for 20 minutes 50 days a year puts an extra 17hrs of use on your vehicle a year to go nowhere and to be more comfortable a few minutes earlier in the cabin. My advice is to let it idle until the revs settle after 15 or 30 seconds and then drive it gently. The heater is blowing hot air in 5 or 10 minutes and you heat the engine/cabin quicker than letting it try to get up to temp by idling. Just don't drive like a maniac those first minutes.

    I had a neighbor in college that would relentlessly redline his car to get it up to temp before driving. That poor Taurus.

    I think they were referring to a far northern need to let vehicles idle so that the interior vehicle temperature wasn't that of "Frozen 2."

    We don't have that issue in Texas, because we "let it go." :rimshot:
