This "3rd gen" would have been much better received 5 years ago IMO. Toyota waited way too long to 'redesign' it, so expectations got higher and higher the more time passed before the 'redesign' finally arrived. To add insult to injury, Toyota re-using the same cab and frame as the 2nd gen, interior ripped off from the Tundra and you've got a recipe for plenty of criticism.
It does seem odd to me that it took Toyota seven years to do even just a facelift and then just two years later they're doing a "full redesign". I wonder if this redesign would have happened at all if not for the new Chevy twins coming out.

Of course it is, good competition brings out the best from each company. In the end the consumer is the winner. Just think this fall the new Frontier will be coming out and then the new Ridgeline. Win win for the consumer to decide for themselves which truck is best for them.

Agreed. I had much more respect for the Hilux after spending time in a new one in Costa Rica. It's a badass truck. I wish we could get it here.

The more I read about the 16 Tacoma, the more I like the little mechanical changes that were made. Yes, the body is a refresh, but they did give it a new frame and body material, quieter interior, supposedly a better articulating suspension as well as better on road handling.

The 3.5 V6 and 6 speed transmission (stick or auto) was definately a needed improvement.

There are a lot of articles out there covering it since it was uncovered at the auto show Monday.

I'm not sure about the new 4x selector system. It appears it is similar to the one in the Cruiser, but not as complex. We'll see...

Must be a custom trailer hitch as I don't think they make anything above a class 1 hitch for compact cars.

What a bunch of cry babies. Toyota didn't build the truck I wanted so I'm going to Ford! Don't let the door hit you in the back side. Well should we tell them that high school is over now and in the real world you don't get everything you want. The new truck looks good and if you don't like the engine well guess what, they have a government standard they have to meet. If don't like this just wait because in 5 yrs you'll dislike that one too. If they built the truck half of you think you want, you couldn't afford the $50,000 plus price tag and you would here "the dam Stealerships" blaming them for everything. My frame is rusting its there fault. Well you could of spent a few dollars like I did and have it coated so you don't have that problem. its time to grow a pair and stop whining your not 8 anymore.

You're this upset over people's opinions? This is a forum full of a diversity of people. Chances are alot of people are not going to share your point of view. If people want to bitch let them bitch. How does their opinion negatively impact you ?

...actually nevermind. I honestly don't care haha.
