I'll ask them when I go pick up the truck which wires were chafing in which junction box. Maybe I can get them to point it out :)

My guess the vague dealership response is that they sent the truck to an auto electric shop unless it was a recurring problem in the Toyota repair database.

Waiting to hear back which wires and junction box it was. She didn't know when I asked, so she's talking with the tech. Interested to hear back.

x2, especially on alternators and DC fundementals. For more information on batteries, please see the Car and Deep Cycle Battery FAQ on www.batteryfaq.org.

Glad to hear that the truck was fixed and that they good-willed it for prior complaints.

I am quoting this so that incorrect information is not given. The ignition switch IS located on the side of the column. It is part of the switch/cylinder housing, not on the top of the column near the firewall, as mentioned in the above quote.

I agree, except that my understanding is there is more than good will involved in many states. It is the law concerning warranty issues, probably hinging in certain cases, on how bad either party is willing to push the issue.

But this one seemed cut and dry. The exact same issue was reported with no resolution found while still under the warranty mileage. If Toyota had refused to continue the investigation, it probably would have cost them much more in a losing court case.
