I love the new Tacoma but im never giving up my current one and that 4.0L engine. I will go as far as saying its more reliable then the Toyota 3.4L given the fact that the 4.0L is chain driven vs belt driven on the 3.4L.

Overall I like it so far. The interior is sweet, a lot of little things like locking tailgate, the front looks good but the grill is not proportionate to the rest of the truck and the dodge hood lines look good for a dodge... If the fender are wider that will be great for larger tires and wheels, they did a lot of good things..

My problem is the engine, the current 3.5s suck, if we get a tuned highlander motor that will be a game breaker for a lot of people, if they use a modified lexus engine that should be an upgrade... So I'm on hold for the engine and gearing specs....

Loaded but simple question anyone know when we will have exact engine, tranny and suspension related specs?

I like most changes especially interior. I hate the grill and front bumper and tail lights so much I don't know if I could wait out till aftermarket was in place however I'll say I think it's a fixable look once solutions are available. Just going to take moola..$$$$ and.. 6-12 months to see it trickle out.

The OP is right. There are more negative comments on these boards than positive but I keep scratching my head wondering why.

I've looked at the new truck vs the old and I don't see a single similarity between the two with the exception of the shape of the rear door windows. Other than that there's nothing even remotely similar to the 2nd gen.

I agree that the 4.0 is a good motor. The new 3.5 could be a better one if Toyota does it right. I had a 2011 Ford F150 with the 3.7 V6 and it was as good or better on fuel in a full-size truck that weighed maybe 1000 pounds more than my Taco. The 3.7 also was very capable for its size in powering that big truck.

Perhaps 5 or 6 years from now, we might look back at the 2016 Tacoma and realize it was a legend.

Just sayin', but as each year goes by, trucks seem to more and more resemble SUV's or cars.

^^^This right here.^^^ So much crying going on in TW. Sounds like a bunch of spoiled girls that didn't get what they wanted. There's plenty of other vehicle manufacturers out there.

I think the updates are nice enough – and the new interior looks much better -- but nothing about the new truck makes me regret buying my 2013 last year. I think I still prefer the look my 2nd Gen, but of course that's because I've had time to make it my own.

Yes, they did a GREAT job on interior. I have seen few negative comments regarding that. Out of curiousity, how old is this forum? Would be interesting to read similar threads from 2004. =)

First Taco that I might truly buy. It was on my shopping list in 2006 but didn't get a test drive (GTI instead), 2010 4Runner was far better for my needs in 2010. If I come to my senses and get rid of this little sports car (because I drive like an asshole in it), the '16 Taco is in the running.
