highlander oil tsb is for 2012 and down, the new motors have all metal lines vs rubber, and that motor is not slow, those things are faster than our trucks for sure

Well BlueT pointed out that Toyota is currently making a 3.5 engine in the lexus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GR_engine#2GR-FXE 2GR-FSE that uses direct injection, 305-314 hp @ 6800, 278 torque @ 4800. An engine with those specs would be sweet, I would still prefer a lager engine but that would get the job done with good gearing...

We would need lower gearing than we have now because the power curve is higher and the new 6 speed trans will have 2 overdrives not another low gear... So with the 6 speed you could use 4.11 or 4.33 gears and have more power and better mpg...

    Still waiting for the specs....................

You're disappointed, ha ha. I have a 2007 that started to burn oil at 55000 miles and still burning it and no help from the dealer. Now the throttle body is failing at 62000 miles. Sorry no warranty. If they think I'm going to buy another Toyota, good luck. I wish Honda would make a truck the size of the Tacoma, I would buy one tomorrow.

So you're going to compare an old SUV with a new truck? It's a 2.5L I4 to match the Honda CRV.

Are you that desperate to make a point that can't be backed up until Toyota actually gives us some specs on the new motor? Lighten up. Relax. Go do some yoga or something.

Updated styling both interior and exterior, more efficient motor, additional creature comforts. I like what toyota came up with. What's not to like.? I hate to tell you this, but its a mid sized truck. Tacomas are generally used for groceries, a 2x4 here and there, and cleaning out the garage. If you crawl rocks and baja mud bogs great. Go get aftermarket parts. If you plow snow for a living buy an f-250. It's not and never will compete with a full size of any manufacturer in both comfort or power. The tacoma serves the us mid sized truck market well. I'd buy another.

I agree. What's not to like? No major automotive company is going to produce a midsize truck with the features that some of the folks here are writing about, like full floating axles or the ability to install monster truck tires without changing the bodywork. They offer a base model and mid level models to suit various needs, why complain that someone else wants leather and a sunroof and is willing to pay for it? Just because I don't go rock crawling doesn't mean that I don't use my Tacoma as a truck. In addition to daily driving in the winter while my Mustang is put away, I use the truck all year for household projects, occasionally helping friends move and for hauling my 4-wheeler. During the summer I carry my family in the cab while towing our 5000 lbs camper and using the box for our mountain bikes, generator and fuel. Someone said "If you want luxury, go buy a Ridgeline." I want all the luxuries I can get but I will never buy a "truck" that is front wheel drive biased and I will only drive a manual so the Ridgeline is simply not an option (plus the towing capacity isn't high enough for me.) I also hate the massiveness of full size trucks and I have very little interest in going full size.

I know it sucks when the market doesn't produce exactly what you want but the days of simple, basic small trucks that can easily be modded into off-road beasts are over. Most of the market wants these "luxury" items, or at least some of them. Heated mirrors and a locking tailgate are WAY overdue. In this climate, heated seats and dual climate control are amazing. We'll have to wait for engine specs, tow ratings and road tests to know the full story but I am ecstatic that they kept the Tacoma the same size while (by all estimated accounts) increasing HP, torque and MPG while adding many modern niceties and most important to me - the V6 manual combination lives on!

So much butthurt based primarily off of speculation.. Why don't you children calm down and wait until the specs are actually released. Then, perhaps take one for a spin and if at that point you don't like it, here's a simple solution......... wait for it........ DON"T BUY ONE. I am sure that Toyota will have no problem selling these, just like every other model since the Tacoma came out..

Complaining about something we know little about is pointless. Chill out, have a beer and wait.

I have a 2015 with almost 200,000 miles on it. The only thing I have had to do to it was replace the left front bearings a couple of months ago. Not bad. I have loved this truck. I wanted a new one for retirement. I have waited over 2 yrs for the new redesign and now that it is here, I don't think I like it at all. That huge new front end, extended grill is a turn off. It looks like some hollywood actress had her lips over injected and can hardly talk now. It almost looks like it was slapped on at the last minute. Inside it is still an older Tacoma, they have mixed up the dash a bit, but it has a cheap feel now. I was hoping for a great Tech upgrade but this looks plastic and not well thought out. It doesn't have a WOW factor. I like lots of the things that they have done, the new 4 cyl. hint at much better gas mileage, more knobs and bells and whistles, but it falls short of what I thought they would do or could have done. I will now start to look at other models which I haven't done waiting for this one. I won't decide for sure until I can sit in one, touch it and drive it. Than I will decide. But I sure was disappointed with the Detroit auto show photos and the small web site showing it. Darn, it could have been so classy and tough but it falls short.

Someone should be fired. Ugly old Volvo front end, and they introduce the great 2016 in the awesome color of beige...

At least GM came out with some good looking trucks.
