    Yeah.
Hmm, a revolution in truck design. What would that even look like? What were people really expecting?

Other than the Ridgeline (which some would say is not really a pickup truck), every truck from every manufacturer has a frame, engine, cab and bed. It has been like that for nearly 100 years with minor innovations, many that didn't last (remember the Ford I-beam front suspension?).

New engine (for the Tacoma, anyway, but not really new because they never do that for good reason), new tranny, new interior, new driving aids. What else can they really change on a truck?

I guess one advantage of living in Ca. is we don't have to deal with the frame rust issues.....rare to see a Taco where I live that is having frame issues. The few I have seen are from the Tahoe area and that is from all the salt used on the roads. As to the new drivetrain. The 6 speed is a nice touch, but my bet is 6th is simply a taller OD so wouldn't do much where I live...maybe if you drive the truck empty and live in the flat lands it would help. Don't have any issues with the side view of the truck, bit don't care for the grill which just looks wrong to me, and I don't have much use for the new look of the tail end either. Do like that they added the 4wd modes as in the 4Runner Trail. Regardless of what folks think of the computer stuff, it does work very well in most uses. Also not a fan of the dash from what I've seen of it. All in all, glad I bought my 15 Pro rather than wait to see what 16 offered.

My complaints with my 08 have been generally addressed with the new Taco.

OEM Projector Headlights - About Time...this really should have been part of the 2012+ new front end on the 2nd gen.
Quieter Ride - New Floor Construction + Sound Deadening to Achieve. My current Taco is LOUD so this is very welcome. If I was to keep my 08 I would have completely removed the interior and dynamatted EVERYTHING.
Better MPG - I have a V6 6MT now and it's terrible. On the new one I will get whatever transmission gets better MPG though, which is likely the auto unless they regeared the manual (though, they did say "New 6-Speed Manual" so I don't expect it to be a straight carry over.

More HP is welcomed but I was relatively happy with my current truck power wise. It was fast enough to get out of its own way and do whatever moves I needed to in traffic.

EZ-Down Tailgate - It's not big enough to make a break, but it's certainly a plus

I figure the "Better Ride" is probably the one thing that is BS - I'm probably going to get an Icon Kit eventually anyway, so whatever.

I don't get what everyone is flipping out about. A recent review of a 2015 Tacoma vs a Canyon had the Canyon only winning by a little bit. So, even a 10 year old truck stacked up pretty well. I have no doubt this new one will be even better.

I hope a lot of people will hate the 3rd gen so demand will be low so I can buy one at a huge discount.

You aren't happy with the new truck because Toyota didn't make changes. And then you went on to list the changes that dodge has made to their trucks. I replied by stating that many of the things you listed that dodge had changed, were also changed on toyota trucks (engine, trans, axles, frame).

So by your logic you like the dodge because they changed motors, trans, axles, and frames, even though the exterior looks the same.

But yet you don't like the toyota, and claim it is the same truck, because they changed the motor, trans, axles, and frame (since the first gen) but the exterior remained the same.

Any word on the fuel tank size?

that is the largest problem I have. Get on the road and can on only run 210 miles and be out of fuel towing.
crap fuel mill milage and small tank are a PITA.....

    Wrong.....

still using the same axle and drum brakes... Still the same frame for the most part over the last 10 plus years abd the new to you is only mods made to fit the trans and motor that was used in other models for years the way it sounds.

I don't necessarily agree that Toyota is falling behind, but I own a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo. A real nice cross over with lots of features, rides nice, lots of get up and go, quality so far. Hyundai is definitely doing something right. Depreciation is bad on them though. I considered trading up to a 2015 that has a couple of options not offered in '13 that would be nice. Mainly memory seats and blind spot monitoring. I'd take a major hit on what I paid trading in.

Is there other manufacturers that offer what toyota is for warranty 36 and 60k power.

about all the others were at 75 to 100k for power.

No tow haul mode from what I read also in the trans.....
That is also a big problem in the trans now for an auto.
and don't talk about a stick 6 speed it is not in the LB.

Over the course of the 1st, 2nd, and now third gen I believe the rear axle has changed. The frame is enhanced, note I didn't say new. The motor and trans are new to the truck. Sounds like the rams ecodiesel was used in other vehicles over seas as well. And the mighty 5.7 hemi has remained unchanged. So what's your point?

They were expecting a truck that doesn't have such an ugly front end. I like the rear, but personally and I think many would agree with me, the front on the new Taco looks like a damn gremlin. It just looks too damn gawdy with that chin and the huge grille like that. Hell they could had went with a design change similar to the new 4runner front end and that would had made it look more off road ready and friendly. Sure it could have plenty of off road features as it is, but seriously, if it looks like butt driving down the dirt, nobody will bat an eye at it or even care that it is there. No matter how well it performs.

Haha seriously! What would you rather have sitting in the from of your garage or in your garage (if it fits)?:
