In situations like that you are correct. On mine, I let it idle until I find a good song on pandora. Usually right away haha. Then I keep the blower off so it isn't blowing freezing air onto me while I'm driving and usually about 150* or a 1/4" above the cold line on the temp gauge it starts blowing decently warm.

Sorry I'm not driving after 30 seconds of starting my truck up when it's single digits or below out. I prefer to be comfortable on my way to work, not be freezing and shiver the entire way only to have the truck start warming up a couple minutes before I finally get to work.

17hrs of extra idling a year is worth it to me to be warm and comfortable on my drive to work, it does not put anywhere near the same wear on your truck that driving for 17hrs would.

Not sure what difference the tranny type has on idling emissions

Not sure what difference idling emissions has on global warming.
The sun is more likely the main influence of warming rather than man. Just saying!

Thanks for the explanation (I had a vehicle that operated this way). I am not "gunna try to start an argument". What I am getting at is stop spreading information that you ASSUME to be true. An unsuspecting owner might think they have an issue with their vehicle. That's like assuming since most Toyota's have push button start that the 2013's Tacoma's have it too. /rant

Haha. My daughter's cousins aren't old enough yet to really bring the pain as a tag team.

Are you not walking to and from your truck to get into where you work, the grocery store, etc? I still have the face that cold weather on the walk between getting out of the vehicle and my destination. May as well put all the cold weather gear on before I get in the vehicle in the first place.

I'm currently sitting out in my car with the engine off in 28 degree weather. The kiddo fell asleep on the way to the funeral, so I'm letting her get some shuteye before we go in. The cold is good for us. And I'm a tight mofo.

Probably have the only 2nd Gen with an 8274 in the world.
Looks like front bumper replacement will be tough.

To each their own! Doesn't mean I'm going sit around in 28 degree weather with the engine off though, or make my kid sleep in those kind of temps.
