This is my first write up so please over look the lack of refinement.

I wanted to be able to charge my phone while the truck wasn't running or keys in the ignition. It's also worth noting that my truck came from the factory with a USB port that will charge my phone, however once my phone is plugged in it links to the radio. This makes the phone function act weird and almost useless.

My solution was to put a retractable iPhone 5 charger in the little cubby next to the steering wheel. I normally put my phone in there while driving so that location was perfect for me.

I ordered these to items off Amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/Hardwire-Smar...B00I3P6QQG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_dp_zBbuub14BQF4M_tt

    http://www.amazon.com/Compact-Retra...B00EDP0FFI/ref=cm_sw_em_r_dp_bUbuub1GYRSZT_tt

I then gathered some extra wire along with a 2amp inline fuse and some zip-ties.

Pulling a couple inches of the retractable cable out I placed a zip-tie to prevent it from pulling itself back in. This makes it easier to grab the cable and pull it from the cubby, and for the phone to sit in there and charge.

You then remove the cubby by grasping it and pulling strait out.

I then placed the cable to my liking and secured the other end with electrical tape to hold it in place till it was put back in.

I then ran the adapter cable through the hole expose in dash after cubby was removed.

From there I pulled the cable through the fire wall and into the engine bay. Don't mind the green wire that's another project but going through the same place.

Ideally I would have liked to have kept the power inside the cab but was at a loss of where to get the constant power from. If I figure it out ill prob re run this wire.

From there all I did was add the inline fuse with a 2 amp fuse and connect the red wire to the battery and grounded the other.

With all this completed connect the retractable charger to the hardwired connector and place the cubby back in.

All in all I'm happy with the finished product!

I also tried out my new phone mount! Hope this is helpful!

I just want the regular cigarrette lighter to have constant power while truck is off. I'm sure there is a guide but searching didn't help me much.

    Nice write-up though.

then wire it up for such....fuse+some wire, a splice and ring lug.

You can make the cig lighter constant just by modding the relay. I'll be doing it here soon.

Anyone have a writeup on doing it yet?

Solid DIY! I can't help but point out that in picture #4 - you have the longest finger of any living human.
