 Yeah man, hope it helps a little. I'll try and continue more thoroughly with the reviewing.

Also, as far as the Duratracs go, for the record. I did give them a chance and wasn't set to return them when I first got them. But when I had I know two out of the four giving me some type of balance issue off the bat within days of getting them mounted. I didn't want to take a chance thru out having them, having to come in and get them balanced everyweek. Plus they were slighty annoying to me with the sound, and knew once they started wearing they'd get worse. And again, I feel the Maxx's have a more mellow tone and not as annoying to me.

So far, I've only had the Maxx's in rainy conditions and minimal gravel trails.
They seem to be just fine on wet roads with no signs of breaking loose.
I know, people want to know about how they are with picking up gravel/stones etc. My answer so far, they're not bad at all. For comparison or in comparison to the General Grabber AT2's, the Grabbers were pretty bad about slinging rocks out especially once reaching highway speeds ( I would also add that KO's would be really close to those (GGAT2's), there's been nothing close to them with the Maxx's. I believe it's just the wider pattern and they also designed them with stone ejectors. But I'm sure it also depends on the size of the rocks. But so far so good. I've heard only a few that sounded like a Red Rider bb hitting from 50ft or so, compared to more with a 22 cal pellet with the Grabbers.

And again for anybody who hasn't had a plus ply tire. Do realize, the ride wont be as "cushy" as before with like a P rated tire. You'll be getting more feedback from the road, with bumps etc. But after a while you should get used to it.

This thread sold me on the S/T Maxx's. I ordered a set (275/70R17) through Mavis and they're suppose to arrive at a local shop next Monday. Nasty winter weather is predicted for the next week and I don't expect it to go away any time soon. But I have a dumb question.. the "S" means this is a snow tire, no? I have a "nice weather only" car, but that doesn't mean the truck will never be driven on hot dry pavement.
    Thanks.

This is an AT (all terrain) tire. These tires are great in all conditions from the reviews on here. I've reviwed my mine on here a little bit.
I like that size and had some BFG's in them. Hated those tires and contemplated buying my Maxx's in that size again but went with 255/80.

You'll be happy with them. I'd like to hear how that size performs in the snow.
Also when you do get them mounted please let me know the dimensions here:

The S in ST doesn't mean snow, I found some info that says the ST stands for "Sure Trac" which I'm guessing means Sure Traction. Seemed to be an old Aussie based site regaurding the Cooper ST when it first came out. Considering the inhancments made to the ST Maxx id say your in good shape  check back in and let us know how they did in the snow and other winter conditions.

    Here's what it said:
"Discoverer A/T (an all-terrain), the H/T (predominantly an on-road 4WD tyre), the STT (biased towards dirt and mud), to name but a few. The 'newie' is the Cooper Discoverer S/T (Sure Trac); a rather radical tyre."

Ok, thanks for confirming. That was my understanding as well. I called the local Mavis shop today to confirm my online order, and besides other confusion, he said, "oh, these are snow tires." I just let it go.

I had similar issue with duratracs. Bought set of 33's from Goodyear and same day my truck would violently shake. After sourcing hours of balancing they decided to throw new sets but problem still existed. Couple days later I decided to go with st Maxx abs I haven't looked back.

Cool hopefuly your Maxx's will be good.

Took my truck in today to get the balance checked, been having some vibes in the steering wheel around 45-50mph, nothing crazy but still.. Turns out three were out, the dude doing it said two were pretty bad. So far I've put about 1,500 miles on them, haven't really taken them thru much to speak of, haven't hit any potholes or been rough on them.
Hopefully that was a one time thing.

I cant make up my mind. Was set on ST Maxx, but am now considering KM2 because my truck is no longer a DD. I dont drive more than 10k miles a year. My main concern is noise. Has anyone compared the Maxx to KM2?

I almost never drive in snow, and dont encounter mud often, but something about the look of the km2, I really like it.

The Coopers are very quiet, quieter than my BFG AT KO's and I'm sure those are quieter than the KM2's...

I think the KM2's are a good mud tire, no experience but search for some reviews. I wouldn't buy them based on looks alone... For what it's worth.

Not solely appearance, I do go offroad. The reason to go from AT to MT is that my truck is no longer a DD so I would like the MT for when I do go offroad and its not like Im sacrificing much because I dont DD it.

On the topic of looks, I think the hankook MT looks awful. Have heard good reviews about it though.

    OME 3" lift MK6 wheels 285 Fierce MTs & 4.88s!!
I have KM2s and you can hear them inside the cab, but it's not obnoxious at all. They are quieter than every other MT I've had.

It may be stupid to some, but my first criteria when looking for new tires is looks. Then, I read all the reviews that I can find. Mostly, I check the wet traction and ride comfort. We don't get snow, so I couldn't care less about that. And I don't worry about mileage because I really just don't care if they wear fast.
My opinion is that any lifted 4x4 needs MT tires or, at least really aggressive ATs.

Thanks. My last truck I went with BFG AT's. Was never happy with them in the snow hoping these clear better.
