Realistically, how much do you think it would cost to build a budget 9" rear end. With Gears and a locker

Think most say its around 4-5k???

I know Username did a cool swap with a 9.5'' Landcrusier diff. Its a floating axle too with disk brakes. Think he got a custom housing for it. But it seems like a nice alternative...although he might have just as much in it.

 

Trade ya for a super simple bedacage for 14" shocks Seriously though, I would love to get dimensions on it for a starting point to build my own

 

There s few used for under 2k. I'm not talking floater or anything, just a basic nine inch

 

I think a good solid set up will cost around 2k.

 

Just trying to decide between a 9" or a tundra axle

 

What's a good axle that will go on easy under a 2nd gen to try to match a front LT? Something I could possibly find in a junk yard lol

 

Tundra axle is the way cheaper option. I'm in the same boat. Thinking either the 9 in the summer time or a tundra axle.

 

Tundra 10.5" axle for sure. I'm $4700 into my 9.5". Going with a comparable 9" would have been about a grand more, and may or may not be as strong. I don't know why, but I like the idea of having an "all toyota" truck, even though half that shit is 300M and 'moly from who knows where.

 

Won't a tundra 10.5 be way to wide on a first gen

 

As far as I know the only option for gears are 4.88's for the tundra 10.5 diff and only locker choice is arb. Unless you want to buy gears out of australia. I Might be wrong though.

 

Definitly too wide for a first gen, its almost too wide for erics 2nd gen with the DTF 6" over kit, but he has 2" spacer adapters. Plus there imposible to find complete for cheap...ask me how i know haha

 

Tundra 10.5 is like 69 wms-wms I think.

 

Yeah I guess it would be. The only thing I can find says 66" WMS to WMS, but that can't be right, as 2nd gen tacos are 65". (EDIT: The old tundra/t100 is 66")

10.5" next to a 9.5". They are about the same strength as a dana 80.

What year tundra has a 10.5?

 

06 to current tundra's with the 5.7 v8. The 4.7's have a 9.5 diff.

 

2007+ with the 5.7

The only aftermarket gear ratio is 4.88 though I'm thinking of running a 2007+ tundra 9.5 cuz you can get 4.56s. Pretty damn big. A dana 60 has a 9 3/4" Ring gear!

 

I see ruffstuff is doing a custom housing for them now, and I know Brian at Diamond was also working on one... Then you can make it any width...but then the budget goes out the window again.

Well looking into that option now, I'll run 4.88 with 37s so thats perfect
