Weak tailgate reinforcement solution

All PMs and emails regarding a current order are replied to as quick as I can. If yours was powder coated that would be the reason for the wait, I believe they came back at the end of the day Friday so you'd see tracking today.

What's the turnaround time on one of these after payment? Interested.

 

Depends on what's ordered when. I usually try to keep a couple in stock bare but we do run out from time to time and then it can take a couple weeks to fab.
At the moment I have 1 diamond plate aluminum left extra from a special order that is still up for grabs and also 1 bare steel. Either can be sent to powder coat if ordered as such, with approximately a 1 week time on getting it back from the coater.
Smooth aluminum is out of stock and we need to fab more right now so probably 2-3 weeks on one of them plus powder.

 

I would be interested in a smooth aluminum. Can you post when these are in?

TBH you'd be best ordering and just patiently waiting if you do want one.
Being a small shop, theres times we'll run out of stock and go to build more for stock but then by the time we have them in hand we've already gotten orders in the mean time that take up all the ones we've built. Hard to find a median between thousands of dollars just sitting on the shelf, and the flip side of playing catch up fabricating after the order is already placed

 

Thanks for sharing this detail. Has anyone made a plate then reinstalled the factory black cover on the tailgate??

 

The factory plastic cover fits over the product made by Relentless.

 

Is the diamond plate any stronger? Can it also fit under the stock plastic cover? Still have one in stock?

 

Diamond plate is perhaps minimally stronger, doubt it would be noticed in regular use though.
I believe it would still fit over, though I have not personally tried to do so.
I do not have any diamond plate in stock, though theres a GB underway right now and I'm including a special run of diamond plate for those guys. You can jump in on that now, theres currently going to be a few extras after that batch is made.

Just wanted to mention I installed my powder coated aluminum reinforcement yesterday and could not be happier with it. The install was very easy and the gate actually feels strong now.

My truck is only 2 months old so the gate is still in perfect shape. I sat on it for the first time yesterday after installing the plate and it felt totally sturdy (I'm a big guy at 250lbs).

It sucks that I had to pay a couple hundred bucks to beef up a part Toyota should have made strong enough in the first place but hats off to Relentless Fab for an outstanding solution! Now I just need to start saving up for skids and sliders.

Eric will be getting my business again in the future.

 

I have one left over... ONLY 1.

1st person to PM me gets it...... Currently bare/polished, could be sent to powder coat if desired.

Been waiting on powder coat Jeff. As soon as I get it it's going in a box, along with about 15 others in the same boat.

 

Are you putting the plastic tailgate cover back on or leaving it off?
