After diagnosing the problem more it seems to just be CV issues... So until I have time to fix it I'll just be careful in 2wd.

And a filler plate has left me... :(

But I just finished up the wiring for my winch and decided to rep my front plate again. (Required per AK state law)

I have an axle in my shed if you want it. I'm pretty sure it has a torn boot but you could rebuild it then just do a one for one swap. Free.99 if you want it

I'll take it! I think one of mine is still good, but it would be nice to have an extra for a trail spare.

I picked up some suspension parts last night! :woot:
-OME Leaf Springs that should lift my rear ~4" (89-95 Pickup springs)
-Bushing Kit w/ sleeves for all bushings
    -OME Nitrocharger Shocks (Tacoma shocks)
I'm going to try and reuse the stock shackle with a ton of grease, but might have to get a new one.
    And I think I'll need new U-Bolts...

Always a safe bet to change ubolts. So the older gen springs fit and give more lift? Interesting.

I have a set of OME shackles if you want them. You may need new pins for them though. Also I have no clue of they'll fit your setup or not lol. But they're just taking up space at the moment.

I've always been told to change the ubolts. I left mine but my truck barely had 10k on it when I put the springs in.

After I saw how much they stretched last time, after < 5k miles, I am for sure changing them, no matter what. I torqued Em down good with loctite initially and they simply stretched... Crazy.

FWIW I haven't had any issue with the local law enforcement about not having a front license plate after I put on my bumper. I did get pulled over for not having a front plate when I had no bumper though. I bet if you just kept it in the cap you'd be fine.

I haven't had an issue either. But they can't pull you over for not having a front plate. They can ticket you for it if they pull you over for something else though. I had mine in my passenger side sun visor so when it was deployed the plate was, visible through the windshield. I gotta redo that again. All its doing now is slicing my hands open when I reach behind my seat haha.

Thats the only thing I got pulled over for.. :notsure: Also, theres rules about where it can/can't be, I think it has to be in the center of the vehicle and no more than 14" off the ground or something. A kid I knew got a ticket for having it in his truck on the dash.

Hmm. Who knows. If you didn't have a bumper I'd imagine that's why he pulled you over. A cop ffiend of mine told me that. Maybe he meant any normal cop wouldn't pull you over for only missing a front plate. Who knows.

He said "I pulled you over because you're missing your front plate" And I was like yep, I'm putting a new bumper on and I didn't get a chance to zip tie my plate on when I took the old one off. He just sent me on my way after that

Yep, but only for the 95-97 Tacomas with the 3" shorter leaf spring than the 98-2004 Tacoma

Interested... What pins though? the sleeves? If so I have those for the front and GTF ordered them for the rear, but Tom said he would keep them because we were doubtful I would need them.

I thought pet Alaska State Law the front plate "must be visible from the front of the vehicle" and some cops won't allow the plate sitting on the dash. I have also seen some plates mounted on roof racks... That seems pretty goofy to me.

I was worried about that as well when I took my bumper completely off a few times so I could finish up my bumper.

I have mine under my seat since I put my bumper on with no issues. On or off base. Didnt run one on my 00 either.

The greasable bolts for the shackles. I messed up the threads with a hammer when I put them in originally. I filed them and cleaned them up so the nuts went on/off OK. Just can't remember how much of a problem they were. But I only had them on the truck for less than a year I believe.

Even if I have to replace the bolts that would be better than the 20 year old rusty shackles I have now...

Then run the front plate. Technically it has to be parallel to the ground as well though. Just fyi
