air compressors suck..they are a backup..when they actualy work. i have been through a few of the pepboy compressors already. i woul suggest in getting a Co2 system with a 15lb tank. that will fil up many tires before it needs to be refilled. it will also power air tools for trailside repairs. theres a new vendor here at TW that has been aroind at Pirate4x4 who has gained a lot of at attention for his quality system for a great price. everyone should check him out. hes also offering a group buy. a 10 lb tank system would be decent but i would recommend a 15lb tank.

edit: i can fill all four tires from 15psi to 35 psi faster then it would take a pepboys compressor to fill just one tire.

how much does it usually cost you to refill the tank?

 

yeah this is what I was wondering. over time that's gotta add up. But also gotta consider how many tires you can fill up on a complete tank.

 

depends on where you go. for jnstance, a fire extinguisher service place in glendora i ofton went to would charge 15 bucks to fill my 10lb tank. Airgas in Irwindale charged my 21 bucks for a fill.

We do not have a fill up service, however, I can refer you to the welding gas shop that we use in Santa Ana that does them for our personal vehicles.

I've had my viair compressor ($40-$50) for almost two years and no problems. Besides my friend dropping it and I just had to replace the switch. Have it mounted under my hood now. So I just pull the hose and air up. Also bought extension hoses for like $7 I go from 15 to 38 psi in under 4 mins per tire. During the wait, I usually grab up all my trash and dust off my mats.

 

Yup. I'll upgrade my viair to a better model down the road maybe even their onboard system.

 

I have a VIAIR OBA system with 100% duty cycle, but I'm going to get a PowerTank system and use the VIAIR as backup. Also for lockers and air tools, etc.
