Short game is where your scores are. Rocketing a driver as far as you possibly can is a great feeling don't get me wrong, but your score will go South quick (or should i say North since a lower score would be better lol) if you have no game closer to the green. A decent iron shot can make up for a not so good drive.! Sweet pics by the way!

Exactly. I was struggling originally with driving and had great mid and short game. Then I corrected my driving so my mid game suffered. Now its just short game problems. I was at the range last night and figured out what I was doing wrong so I'm excited to play Saturday to see how it all gels.

Don't you love Golf? When you go back, your irons will suck and your putt and drive game will be on. If they all could work good for one day, it would be amazing lol.

How much are you guys paying for 18 holes with a cart? Two places in town here are $25(M-TH)/$30(Fri-Sun) and the other one is like $32-$44 depending on which day you go.

Ever try golfnow.com? You can get some great deals on some great courses depending on the tee time. My brother and I use this quite often. The tee times are at not so premium times, but we get to golf $40 courses for 50-60% off in a lot of cases.

I can't tell you how many times I have said this over the years! I got away from the game for the past year and a half because the coworker I used to play with transferred out and moved away. That and I got really involved with my project car. Well I went to the range recently just because I needed something to do one day, and lo and behold I finally felt a golf SWING! Hands, wrists and arms loose and golf club doing the work. You look at positions in this part of the swing and that part of the swing for years and try to duplicate by manipulating muscles during your swing. I haven't got it yet but I definitely felt it, and I'm closer than I was! Getting rid of the hit mentality is the hardest thing for me. For me now, I realized you have to turn your shoulders to swing loose arms, hands, and wrists, and let the club fall where it may. Cupped wrist at the top. Bowed wrist at the top. It doesn't matter as long as long as the club comes out freely and without tension. I've hit a lot of good and even great shots over the years, but I could not maintain consistency. I feel like I'm on the right track finally. Sorry about the long post, I just thought I would share. I KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING WRONG!

Went and got my swing analyzed and not too much to tweak but there's things I need to keep in mind when setting up. My swing speed is 96mph which I was happy with. I also picked up new grips and got new shafts to finally extend my clubs. They sized me up and told me what I needed to do. Was an easy process with standard tools. I went with Winn drytac oversized grips and std steel shafts. I'll be hitting the range this week and will report back.

I'm in need of a good putter. I see they're crazy expensive, are they worth that big amount? I know each putter will be user subjective but any help?

You think putters are expensive but a good confident putter is the best part of your game. If you're gonna pay $150-200+ dollars for a driver, $150-200 for a good putter that you like is going to help your score more than that expensive shiny driver. As far as which one, its totally up to you. Two ball, Three ball, belly putter etc. etc. Its all about what you like and what feels good to you. You can try out putters at every golf store. Go hit a few, and see what works for you in lining up your puts. The greens are all about reading and how well you can control the feel of power with that putter. What works for you may not work for someone else.

Wow I didn't expect extending my clubs and new grips to feel this different. Everything today at the range just felt wrong. I was chunking the range bad. I tried to keep it in lines but I left a crater. I felt like a total noob. Towards the end I was hitting a lot more consistent, hitting the range Friday before I play Saturday morning. Hopefully it'll all work itself out but right now it feels really weird.

Got some used hybrids in today. Figure the best time to buy when people are quitting.

I'm going to go and play with a couple guys from work tomorrow. 4 of us are going the guys are roughly 66, 70, 58, and I'm 31 in age. We played last week and I shot a 112 :-/ That was the second time I played all year and the time before that I did play a little better. One of the guys noticed that I won't coming all the way around when I hit the ball, I was stopping after I hit the ball and he said look at where your belt buckle is. Sure enough the ball was going toward that way. Almost always to the right. My drives off the tee with the driver was long a straight. They couldn't believe how far I was hitting it. I'm down to my last couple of Callaway Diablo balls but I have some Maxfli Noodle soft and long that I've had for a couple of years that I've never hit. Would you guys just use these balls instead of buying some newer balls tonight? Also if I follow through is my chances better at hitting the ball straighter? I know its hard to say without seeing me hit.

I try to always have my belt buckle pointing where I want the ball to go. As far as balls I would just go buy a dozen or a couple sleves.

Lately I've been playing either a TM Lethal, Titleist ProV1X or Bridgestone RX330. Haven't decided which one I like the best.

Just got back from a weekend in Phoenix. Golfed TPC Scottsdale Champions Course and We-Ko-Pa. Shot a 91 and 101. I'm pissed at the 91 because I ended the round with an 8.

Your follow through is way more important than most people believe, like it is in almost every sport. Its hard to say without watching your swing but most people that slice the ball are coming from an outside motion to an in motion and it puts a right spin on the ball, causing a slice. If you have a bad slice, you wanna try to make yourself push away from your body on your follow through. This will help take away from that sorta "baseball swing" of wrapping the club from outside-in motion. If that makes sense to you.

First time commenting on here so don't hate on me :D

No offense guys but there's better courses down in the Pheonix area than the TPC course IMHO for the money. I'd play it once just to say I played it, but last time I went down for work we tried that Quintero course that's a bit of a drive outside of the Phoenix metro area. It was a free course for us because we went on a golf inclusive package but the course was AMAZING. I found it very challenging but not so much so that a low 90's golfer like me couldn't enjoy it. I shot a 97 and I made some very good shots to get there. Give it a try.

BTW the ball you hit is a bit over rated until you start being able to get some control over your short iron shots. I play the Titleist ProV when it's free but otherwise I prefer a decent ball like the new Nike (I can't remember the name). Even on my best game I've never felt out of control with any top end ball, so buy what feels best and is cheapest. Try to stick with it a while so the feel isn't effecting your shots.

We paid I think 130 a round on November. And I've switched to playing the Project(a) ball from Taylor Made. I like how it feels around the green and sticks when I need it to.
