I doubt it. I'm not saying I wouldn't want Babcock to coach. He coaches exactly the style TO needs to play. I just don't think there's any real chance he'll come to TO no matter what they offer. The situation is just shittier than the one he seems disinterested with now. If Detroit had of tanked this year and the Leafs were in a better spot without a coach the chances would be higher, but Babcock clearly doesn't want to be a coach for a poor transition team that always seems to be on the bubble. Let's not kid ourselves, even TO isn't going to pay a coach any more than the 4-5 million Babcock is going to cash in by waiting around for Detroits max offer. Paying more than that is just asking for trouble when the Leafs fail to improve again.

As for buyers or sellers, the Leafs haven't really been that active at the deadline for a while. They don't have any really important UFA's to dangle, so I doubt they could land much return that would matter (1st or 2nd round picks). They might get rid of Reimer, but the price of goalies last year was so cheap why would you get rid of a solid number 2 for a bag of pucks. I wouldn't trade any draft picks this year as a seller. The draft is deeper, or at least, as the draft the landed players like Corey Perry in the mid teens of the first round. If TO tanks again after the deadline those for two round picks could be exactly what this team needs to rebuild if the scouting team has improved as much as they say they have.

Yeah I noticed that in the article I read too. Maybe with someone in net who they can hopefully trust more, the offense will pick up too. I can't even remember the last time they scored three times in a game.

I doubt it. They are grooming their AHL coach for his job as we speak, and I can't see them paying him more then Holland. I can't see him not being with the leafs this summer. Remember I said that

It seems you're agreeing with me, not doubting me ;). We both don't think Babcock is going anywhere. I think we talked earlier about this and both came to the same conclusion. I remember saying it'd be nice to have Babcock, but it'd be totally unrealistic to think it's possible back then and I feel the odds are close to zero now.

As for the Leafs next coach, I haven't watched the Marlies coach long enough to know what he's like. That's something I can't comment on.

Could be, that I don't know well enough either. That being said if he comes on the market I don't think TO will be his first choice. I could see a winning team dumping there coach if Babcock doesn't renew his deal just to hire him. He has that sort of respect around the league.

I think it's all about money and ego. Both of which are pointing in Toronto's direction. He said in an interview he thought coaches were way underpaid and wanted to see them get paid more. I think he will use an over inflated deal with Toronto to set the bar.......then we will ruin him and his reputation, and he will never coach again. Because that's how we roll around this place
