Hey guys I'm new to the site, I just happen to stumble upon it while researching different mods that I want to do to my truck. I have a 2012 prerunner sr5 2wd. I have had this truck for a couple of years but haven't really had the money or time to work on the truck. Well it's time for a change so any suggestions to where I should start would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome. My advice: don't change anything just for the sake of changing it.

Instead, I suggest you start with assessing what you want to do with your truck, and where it doesn't currently meet your needs. Most modifications have the effect of making the truck less desirable to anyone other than the current owner. That means you'll have more trouble should you unexpectedly need to sell it anytime soon.

If you want to make it look sharp - start with a really thorough detailing inside and out. A clean truck is a happy truck. Most folks underestimate the effect this will have.

Other cosmetic modifications you can make are "debadging" - which is removing the excessive chrome labels that Toyota sees fit to grace us with, and changing wheels and tires - while maintaining the stock factory size 265/70R16, or going (+1) to 265/65R17 which is the size on TRD sport.

A clean debadged truck that has rims and tires you really like always looks really sharp.

Personally, I get a lot of value out of a leather "wheelskins" steering wheel cover and leather TRD shift knob. The steering wheel and shift knob are where I touch the truck every time I use it - so leather on those pieces makes it feel a lot better.

WeatherTech floor liners protect the interior really well from dirty feet, and make it easier to clean the interior every time you wash the truck.

Other folks will have other advice.

    bjmoose,

Thanks for the advice! everything you mentioned is pretty much exactly what I had been thinking. Its not a matter of the truck not meeting certain needs but more to make my truck look sharp. I have literally been spending hours upon hours researching different wheel size and rims. My truck stock wheels are 245/75r16 I want to get a bigger size without having to lift my truck and not having the wheels rub either. I was thinking like you said a 265/70r16 wheel seeing how a lot of the stock trd come with this size wheel. I was also thinking about putting an exhaust on the truck just to change the sound of the truck and researched some of the flowmaster cat back exhaust they had that were relatively cheap (560 dollars)

Of course Chris would comment on a thread about a new mods game .

Welcome to the wide world of mods. Moose made some excellent points. Do the mods that will improve your truck in ways that you feel can be easily measured. Don't start tearing, replacing, or cutting things of if you could give two craps about them.

Check out lots of mod threads and peoples trucks. If you see something you like do your research and make an informed decision.
