Well you know what I meant by "ON", I meant "Active". If it's on and not active because your over 3mph, then essentially it is "OFF".

    Well you said:

"I have the locker in and I'm above 5mph when you notice the system not trying to transfer"

When the locker is in and your above 3mph, then the system is not supposed to try and transfer. So not sure what you were saying there?

I think you were just to heavy on the skinny pedal. That video doesn't do much to show what ATRAC is or isn't doing because we can't see the other wheel in the video.

I've tried to let it grow on me but i don't like it at all. Love in the interior but that exterior is still hideous looking to me.

I still can't tell anything without seeing the other tire at the same time. I see your tire slipping and then it stops. Not sure if it stops because of ATRAC or because you left off the gas. For all we know the other tire could have started spinning after your left side spinning tire locked up or stopped.

Ok, was watching without sound before. I see and hear the difference now, looks like there deff was some slippage with ATRAC, but nothing like with it off.

Just because it didn't get you out of that one situation I wouldn't say it sucks though. You can obviously see that ATRAC was sending power to the other wheel while you were giving it gas like you said. Even though the ATRAC didn't get you through that obstacle, it still gave you a better chance to make it and could certainly help in other situations though.

So basically, there's a good chance it may be incorporated into the crawl control system or MTS? From what I read it seems more so still concentrated on the power to the wheels like crawl control?

Well there certainly is a chance. But we honestly don't know.

People have a lot of complaints about the current controls and their limitations and sometimes apply mods to get around those limitations.

I suspect the 3rd gen will be a different set of controls, probably very similar technology with a different control interface and people will have complaints about some of those too.

But what do I know or anyone else here know? Nothing really beyond the DAC and ATRAC buttons are gone and now there are Crawl and MTS buttons and knobs that weren't there before.

I think people are confusing TRAC with ATRAC

I've heard ladies will love the new MACK system, and that when activated it automatically turns off DERP and increases use of the SACK feature. :D

Folks, back when this person was using the handle Whippersnapper, this was discussed. I strongly suggested he take his truck to the dealer because his A-TRAC was NOT working. Also, the brief pedal is no way to wheel... you must give the gas pedal some action to climb... show the truck you are in charge.

There is no tire spin when A-TRAC is working. Both tires on each axle are rotation matched, same as a locker matched them. The difference is A-TRAC uses brakes to slow or hold any spin so it is the same as the opposite tire on that axle. One tire will not spin and the other sits there... that is no controlled, open differential action.

IF that was the case, then nobody would get any benefit from TRAC or A-TRAC, and they most certainly do. Unlike a locker, the A-TRAC automatically frees up when you no longer need the two tires locked, so you can steer easily on trails. As soon as you lose traction, the A-TRAC again goes into action. It also makes some unusual noises, so don't be alarmed... just keep on four wheeling!

Christian: No, by your own video and words, it is not... or you are in need of some four wheel drive training. In your video, you come to a little bump and give the truck a little gas, as if you really don't want to go any further. You repeat the light gas pedal surge, then back off.

What if a lava flow was heading your way, would you give up that easily and burn alive?

In A-TRAC, you are in Low Range, so your truck is already in power mode. As soon as you meet an obstacle like that bump, you POWER over it. Without traction control only one tire spins and you may need to back down and get a running start.

With traction control (TRAC), you get some spin, but the traction tire begins to roll too, and you move.

With A-TRAC or lockers, there is no spin unless BOTH tire on the axle are spinning together.

    * A-TRAC matches tire rotation across the axle... 'locking them together' just long enough to roll you ahead of the obstacle. It does this with spin sensors and the hydraulic brake booster.

How should I know? I don't work for Toyota... I have not seen a 2016 in person... and I have no desire to trade in my perfect 2010.
