decided its time to do something to the stock stereo. will be getting a scocshe kit, but im an audio noob and I don't know what I should be looking at for a head unit.

I know I want one with a big screen. I don't plan on changing the stock speakers tho, just the head unit. what I need from you guys is a short list of what brands/specific models I should look at that have been proven to work well. im assuming there are some favorites around here, so what are they?

also ive been reading some threads, how do I know if I have jbl or not? since that seems to matter?

If you don't have a top of the line double cab, you don't have, (can't even get) the JBL... (stupid Toyota...)

I'm replacing my stock unit with a Pioneer DEH- 80PRS single din. It's going into a 2013 TRD Sport non etune equipped truck. I figured I don't need nav or DVD so I'm concentrating on sound quality over bells and whistles. But I'm also replacing speakers and adding an amp.. The speakers are Pioneer TS-C172PRS, TS-S062PRS. The amp is, again Pioneer Stage 4 PRSA900

Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS. Good price. Great audio output, equilization, connections and screen quality. Has Pioneer app functionality and lots of available accessories and abilities (rear view camera, steering wheel control, Bluetooth phone and auido, ipod integration and ease of use, etc)... I have had three for different vehicles.

thanks for the replies guys. I read alot about head units the past few days and I decided to go with a Pioneer AVH4000NEX, the apple carplay is what sold me. I can use apple maps for nav with it. also got the Scosche kit for it and some adapter cords. just waiting on it all to get here before I do an install in a week or two. :)
