Since you keep asking, do you want me to guess?

If there is no A-TRAC button, it makes sense it is in the CRAWL feature... since A-TRAC only works in Low Range... and you only CRAWL in Low Range.

Maybe, since Toyota does such a poor job of explaining these devices, it made sense to not have a button for a feature that should ALWAYS be on in low range? There is NO benefit to low range without TRAC or A-TRAC. Why the yellow wire mod is so popular for non A-TRAC Tacomas!

Interesting , but the 4Runners had / have Crawl and ATRAC

Not sure I can agree that 4LO offers no benefit without TRAC or ATRAC

If this is true, then you would basically have no control of the throttle while ATRAC is enabled. Because the CRAWL feature drives the truck for you between 1 - 5mph, and if you hit the gas it shuts the CRAWL off.

Who wants to use CRAWL and let the truck control the throttle for you? This is not appealing to me at all. Even the Toyota engineer in the Q/A session says in the first couple mins that real off roaders aren't going to like the new features. What, in gen 4 we will just drink beers and hop in while the truck drives and steers itself? A lot of the fun in off roading is driving the truck yourself, come on Toyota, WTF!

I wouldn't be surprised to find out ATRAC isn't there, secretly due to some software complications/bugs integrating it into a new computer system and with other new features in time for the release, then see them re-introduced it in a few years in another refresh like the 09s.

Who knows though until we see something definitive from Toyota. If I had to put money down, I'd bet on it being integrated and giving us less control over it.

    Actually this was his quote:

"If you're really into off-roading or your a purist you probably don't want crawl control."

Another thought is what about KDSS (sway bar disconnect)? The 4runner trails have it, what about the Tacoma?

I wonder if Crawl Control also comes with the manual transmission. HAC/DAC did not in the 2nd Gen.

If Crawl Control is only for auto trans, then ATRAC would be integrated into the MTS feature.

2 dirtbikes, gear and wood in the bed.... never had an issue or felt unsafe. cant say i have had a lumber rack with shit way up tall... or a RTT mounted way up.

this is with 5100's with stock TRD OR coils at 1.75.... hell it rides so much better on the street without the swaybar as well.

I use 4lo all the time, much easier on the trans, much easier to go slow and modulate throttle.
