Pocket Key

USPS sucks! Key was shipped out on 1/7, arrived in Richmond, CA (~37miles away) on 1/9 and has been sitting there since. Hopefully I get my pocket key soon.

I showed it to my dad, then he wanted one. Later he shows it to my mom, and she wants one. So all separate orders, painful indeed. I will no longer be showing it to anybody..

Not sure how/why, this is the 5 key I received Friday and put unpackaged yesterday for my dad. Broke in less than a day.

 

Not sure if this is normal, but in this pic you can see (kinda.. Sorry cell pic isn't more clear) a void in the material. Maybe this was a weak spot? I broke the other side off and it doesn't look the same.

Very rigid material (now that I have one to test without fear of breaking), also very brittle and it doesn't like to flex much. I wonder if there's a way to reinforce the bolt section without causing issues for different shaped keys.

 

He said it was 3d printed. So pretty much WYSIWYG

 

Update.
My dad said his 5th key wouldn't fit on the bolt, so he only had 4 keys on his 5 key version, which from what I can surmise was enough to overstress material and break it.

Bummer.

 

i mean.. this isnt made to tighten with a tool or anything.. i still have my 5 key and no problems.. if you use a thicker key.. thats more than the thickness of an average sized key, then it probably wont fit..

 

Wat.

The hole of the key was too small to thread the bolt through. Nothing to do with thickness, except the lack of thickness of a 5th key caused (I assume) the break to occur. The material doesn't handle flex at all, it snaps instead of bends.

His was hand tightened, BTW. I would assume any 5 key model tightened down on only 4 keys would break as well. Pretty disappointed in how fragile the material is. Hopefully mine holds up, this was my original concern with the material durability.

If #3 breaks prematurely also, no way can I trust it anymore. Losing 4 keys isn't worth the possibility.

 

I hav 5 key.. what do you mean the hole of they key was too small?
You were so happy with your original purchases. The material does have some flex on it.. just not crazy flex.

With all the 5 keys in place, you should have no problem. The screw I provided is smaller than the hole on the pocket key so I am not sure what you mean by it was too small..
