You also mentioned that you dried the parts with compressed air. You're compressor could've very well introduced oil contamination to the plastic.

 

I cleaned it off with alcohol though afterwards... probably just the stupid paint

 

I am one for blaming the paint. I had a case of this a while back when I applied some clear coat and it reacted........

 

1200 miles in 36 hours. Tomorrow will finish off the trip. I realized that when you keep the truck at 2100-2200 RPM your MPGS suck. Driving at 75-80 from Portland to missoula I averaged 15. Driving to bend I stuck it under in MT and ID and at the speed limit in WA and OR. All of a sudden ingot almost 19. I like that better

Just got 20.4mpg on the way home from Bend. That's the best I've ever got

 

Funny how driving slower will do that. Offroad I get about 8 MPG in my truck if there is room to let 'er eat.

 

I always get the best MPG leaving from Bend...slow drive coupled with elevation loss makes it a winner!

 

Anyone here familiar with motorcycles? I have an opportunity to acquire an '05 Triumph speedmaster with 8400 miles on it for not a whole lot of money. Any ideas as to what it is worth? Are they good bikes?

 

Triumph makes good bikes. I had a speedtriple for my first bike. I regret selling it, that thing was a blast to ride. Best bet would be to look on Craigslist to see what people around you are selling similar bikes for.

 

$3-4K or so. More if it's nice, less if it's trashed. If you are a Triumph dude and really like them, get it. If you are a new rider and don't want to tinker all the time get a Honda or Yamaha in the same price range. Another thing to consider is what you are going to use it for. That bike would be limited to fair weather and short distances, be tough to handle in traffic for a n00b, and would require a lot of maintenance. That said, any motorcycle is better than no motorcycle. I'd ride a honda 90 if that's all I could get.
