Well, this was just another step of stupid I made... I just felt the oil filter and didn't notice any holes, I should have run the engine with the hood up to check it wasn't leaking. Had it been leaking I could have had my brother drive me back to advanced to get a temp crappy oil filter.

Just a really dumb couple of hours.

I tend to agree with Homer....You are an ass. He made a mistake, and asked what people thought he should do. Not the end of the world. You are one who takes yourself and your opinions WAY too seriously.

Years and years ago when I did my first oil change, I had a bad moment as well. Could of sworn I heard that oil filters were reverse threaded. So I cranked and cranked on the filter with a filter wrench for 20 minutes. The filter was chewed up, holes and gashes everywhere. Finally I called someone and they told me I was an idiot. Cranked it the other way and it spun right off. I'm surprised I didn't strip the threads.

If you haven't had an "oh shit" moment from wrenching then you haven't wrenched enough.

Well, that's how we learn. I am glad that it seems like there is no (significant) permament damage. Stuff like this always reminds me of the saying:
    Good decisions come through experience
    Experience comes through bad decisions.

You have to goof off every now and then to learn (or let others goof and learn from their mistakes).

Immediately after it happened I saw a DMV car pull into the driveway. I acted like my brother and told them that the perpetrator drank the oil after and died. So they stopped the search.

This. I would at least drain it all out and check the pan for metal shavings. I think you'll be okay, but I would do that for my own piece of mind.
Definitely got guts for sharing this, OP. But know that we've all done something stupid. Once, back when I had my first car, a 90 Mustang, I decided to jack the front end up and take the tires off to put 'new' ones on. I was in the dirt with a scissor jack, so needless to say, the jack gave out and the front end of my car hit the dirt. Just goes to show we've all done stuff like that.

Agree with this...I have definitely done my share of stupid $hit. Some has cost me and I have been lucky on others. All part of the learning curve. Sometimes your the baby and sometimes your the diaper!

So, gonna bump this with a follow up, got my oil analysis back, everything looks great!

So, at least this wasn't an expensive mistake.... lucky for me the cops let me off with a warning for being dumb. :)
