If you releasing "Brand New" product and you getting tons of negative comments you had failed. This is how it works in grown up world.

If Toyota thinks they getting negative comments right now, imaging the $hit storm when trucks rolls into dealer lots.
If Honda rolls out their upgraded Ridgeline that will immediately eat at least 40 000 units a year from Toyota.
Toyota made the same mistake with 2016 Tacoma as Honda with first Ridgeline, they catered to small group (maybe 13 000) units per year and at the same time they screwed the real user group.

If you ever part of development and release of new products you know when "new product" is a failure right at the gate.
So Toyota can learn here or fail like they did with "New" Tundra
At least with Tundra they did not go down on engine size and did not made look stupid.

Here how I would handle this :
    1. Claim this is expending choices on dependable existing platform (And dont raise price across the board just charge for options leather, moon roof etc)
    2. Make that 3.5L an option along side at least Dual VVTi 4.0 from Runner.
    3. Remove the Tailgate that Looks like Ford. Maybe Replace Tacoma with Toyota on tailgate and put it in the middle. (Like in Old Toyota picups if you want that) Reinforce damn thing too.
    4. Please drop the plastic nose from the front or make an optional No need for 6 inches of space between radiator and grill because dealing with plow is going to be pain. Trucks need flat from so you can put things on them.
    5. And please please replace the Highlander gauges with 4runner gauges. Trans Temp and Oil pressure gauges are pretty much on every truck already.
    6. The Radio Tape Deck styled middle of the Dash have to go too. We are long way from 80's

I find it hard to believe it's already "failed" when no one has actually seen it in person or test driven it.

Its the age of internet. hundreds of people attended unveiling of "New" Truck, took a photo, posted on the internet.

When you see poop on the side of the road do you feel you need to put your finger in it to make sure its poop?

I think whats funny is all those Toyota employees and family members trying to convince us poop is not a poop.
    :D

Unless your great-to-the-twentieth-power grandfather was Nostradamus, please refrain from the verbal assaults. You have no more facts or insider information than anyone else here. So unless you were planning on replacing that '07 and Toyota didn't design the truck you've been sketching in your diary, do some actual research on the things you're talking about.

Also, I believe I speak of a majority of people on this forum in asking you to please tone down the rhetoric. Many of your posts are disrespectful, and there's no reason for you to be rude. Thank you.

Honestly I have suspicion you are either Toyota employee or close family member.
Now you may not like critique but last time I checked this was free country.
Now if you as Toyota employee (and I suspect you are) don't like people b1tching about "newly" released truck I suggest going back and redesigning it. I mean you can complain about me all you want but the fact is and trust me this is not only my opinion that Toyota released a Turd. Which is a shame because 2Gen truck is probably one of the best vehicles they released in long time.

In all honesty, the fair thing to do for us (and Toyota) would be to wait until some on-road and off-road tests and comparisons are done by reputable magazines/test crews and then base our opinions on those results. In the meantime, yes...we all have opinions on the looks, lack of looks, features, lack of features and marketing strategies/marketing blunders. What I feel most important is when Toyota releases the performance data for the until-now; mysterious new (For Tacoma) V6 engine.

I just took a peak at the all-new Nissan Titan, and guess what they're saying on those forums. Some call it a Chinese rip-off of the Ford "F-Series". It's a Catch-22 situation for designers these days, since they all seem to follow the latest trends, such as these humongous grille openings we have seen lately, largely set-off by Audi I do believe.

Nevertheless, my personal opinion of the new Titan is, well....indescribable...however - with the Cummins diesel, it may turn out to be great performer...just as the Tacoma may turn out!

There's "expressing your opinion" in a polite, concise, and thoughtful manner, and there's aggressive and hateful ranting while attacking other's opinions. If you want to express your (oft misguided) ideas, you're free to do so. Please be respectful when you do. When you crap on other's opinions you cross the line.

Like I tell my son, stating your opinions as fact only makes you look like an idiot. Better to keep your mouth shut than open it and prove the case.

It is indeed a free country, and I'm also free to call you on your crap every time you spew it.

Oh, and I'm not a Toyota employee. I simply prefer to dwell on the positive, give people the benefit of the doubt, and expect everyone to treat each other with respect. I get a little bent out of shape when they don't.

It would be better if he knew how to write. It wouldn't take as long as it does trying to decipher what he is ranting about. Capital letters, proper punctuation and correct sentence construction would help. :notsure:

It could be possible that English is not his first language, but then should we stone him for it?

I felt similar at first. Today though, I went and looked at the official pics on the Toyota website. I heard a voice in my head say "Dammit, I really like truck and want to buy one" as I was staring at images.

I wonder if they remembered to put a temperature gauge in this one? Or maybe a trip computer?

The GoPro mount probably got all the design attention. :)
