Other than the memory seat thing, how often do most people adjust their seat?

The only time my seat moves is when I'm cleaning the vehicle. Otherwise, it's set it and forget it.

Power seats aren't really a hot topic for me. My tundra has a power drivers seat but manual passenger seat. Wife's '06 T4R sport has power driver and passenger.

My current 2004 Ram has 300,000 miles and zero problems with the power seats.

I can live without power, but height adjustment is huge. I find I get knee paid when I drive my Tacoma because the seat is to low. That is one major reason for my decision to get a new vehicle soon.

I bet I'm not the only one.

And no I'm not freakishly tall or fat.
5'11" 180 pounds and reasonably fit 29 year old.

I'd murder a midget just to have the lumber adjustment on my 2013 TRD Cloth Heated seats.

One of the biggest benefits to power seating are the extra adjustments such as height and tilt. I agree it's a strange corner to cut for the new Tacoma.

 Damn. Mines doesn't. I'll take a picture tonight. I knew I shouldn't of bought a truck off my ex-wife. Something had to be missing :D.

That being said I find the seat fine. Actually the seat heater works way better than the cloth seat heaters in my wifes Sonata.

I'm new here and I'm strongly considering buying a 2016 Tacoma. I personally couldn't care less about power seats. Power windows, power mirrors, power steering: yes. Seats are something I adjust once and forget about. The only times I adjust my current seats are when I need to carry something large behind me, moving up/back the power front seats on my other cars is needlessly slow with power seats.

My '07 SR5 had lumbar adjustment. I know for a fact that all the 2nd gens with TRD seats have lumbar.

Not sure about lumber adjustment though.

Just off the top of my head with all the power seat "problems" or "failing" in vehicles in the family

2005 Accord EX-L V6- 150k miles, dual power seats, no issues

    2003 Accord EX-L V6 - 140k miles, dual power seats, no issue

2003 Accord EX 150 k miles, 1 power up and down, no issues

1994 Toyota Supra, 91k miles, 1 power seat, no issues.

1999 Landcruiser, 160k miles, 2 power seats, no issues

2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 150k miles, 2 full power seats with memory, no issues.

2006 GX470, 45k miles, full power and memory, no issues.

And more I could be forgetting.

Power seats are reliable except maybe in a BMW. But in a Toyota there wouldn't be an issue because they would just port over the same motors and gizmos from a Highlander or Tundra.

The Supra is nice because you can grab a handle and the seatback quickly drops forward for easy access to the rear and then it just snaps back into the same position, this would be nice for an AC. Nice thought out design and back from 1994.

No power seats offered in a 2016 Tacoma is strictly a cost cutting measure and that's sad because they're gonna raise the price on the truck anyway.

Power seats allow you to find the perfect spot, instead of just moving it back a slot. I find it comfortable to be able to back the seat a bit on a car trip. Going back to the next slot though makes it a stretch.

Power seat is least of the problems. Shouldn't they have a seat where you can adjust the height?

I've never really thought of a midsize truck as being a luxurious vehicle. I think of them as the little engine that could, a nice little gritty vehicle that gets the job done. Not being able to get the Tacoma with all the amenities doesn't really shock me and I'm not at all outraged. I still find it odd that full size trucks can come loaded up with all sorts of amenities. I guess not everyone uses their truck for "Charlie work."

I work with a bunch of guys whose FS trucks' beds never see cargo, never leave pavement, and don't tow. They're the new land yacht. They're giant Cadillacs, or at least that's how they're treated.

My 2013 has lumbar support. The little rotating wheel, lower left on the seat for adjustment.

well even on my 2014 4Runner LE, I only have a 8 way power seat.

I would prefer the 10/12 way but those are reserved for lexus and higher value Toyota's.

the 8 way is not much better than the manual ones. the better manual ones are easier to get more adjustments than the 8 way.

and the power raising on Toyota seats suck since it lifts forward. the better ones have a height adjustment in the rear and front cushion. the 8 way only the front has height adjustment.

so don't expect that fancy power seat is gonna be any better than the manual ones.
