Yeah, something to do with too much bonding agent on the trigger body, if I remember correctly.

It's an easy check to see if the trigger is part of the recall; if it's got vertical ribbing it's exempt, if it's smooth then it's part of the group being recalled.

Personally, we clean ours out when we buy them new and it eliminates any creep that may develop over time. Then just clean regularly and lube a little with regular rem oil.

I have no symptoms of the recall but i'll swap triggers just for piece of mind

You should just buy a Tikka instead. Very accurate guns that'll stump fanboys on both sides of the Remington/Savage debate. :D

I do the same with mine, but I'm sending it back at some point for the replacement anyway, just for my own for peace of mind.

Yes, but $1500-2000 spent and all you have is a factory Remington 700 and a scope and bipod then you've spent $1500-2000 on a non-accurized, factory Remington 700. That is lunacy.

Buy a better Remington 700 model that is purpose built for accuracy, at minimum. Or lessen your budget to somewhere appropriate. An out of the box Remington 700 is a nice rifle, but it is not best suited for your purpose of 500 + yard shooting.

You should spend some time at Sniper's Hide forum or similar forums I can't recall that are similar (I haven't been active in LR forums for a long time). Spend more on a rifle and get a better foundation, you don't need to spend $450-900 on a scope to do the job, there are some well reviewed, highly praised scopes under $450 that are fantastic for the price. Get one of them, spend more on the rifle.

Yup. You'll probably need/want glass bedding and floating on a synthetic stock, and trigger adjustment

    Yes.

Savage has the FP10 and others which are highly regarded in the Savage world.

You're not keeping in mind that a Remington branded stock on an accurized rifle is dogshit. You'll want to swap it for an accuracy built aftermarket stock or you'll be pissing in the wind. That's $350-550+ additional on what you're basing a budget on. You can re-torque your rifle to specs listed on the above mentioned forum and that will help with accuracy as well, but really, Remington makes a good rifle. Toyota makes a good truck. Both can be made exponentially better when used as a foundation to host aftermarket parts that are specifically built for an intended purpose.

I'm invested in a rifle I'm advising you not to build, because I know I did it the wrong way.

High quality scope mounts and rings aren't cheap either. If you want a long range banger, you'll have to pay to play. I'd either lower your budget/expectations or do a lot more research on where you can shave costs, like in the scopes I mentioned a few posts ago about being excellent for the money is the SWFA Super Sniper line.
