My Baby (never mind the strap. Teaching my daughter to play)

My daughter when she was 5 and just learning. She was getting tired of practicing which you can tell at the end.

She's 9 now and much better. I've played this song for her since the day she was born.

I'll try to get some new videos of us playing soon. I used to have a bunch of The Black Keys covers on youtube but they are gone now. I'll get some back up in the next few days.

It was funny when my daughter was 5 and decided she wanted to learn to play I stopped by guitar center to pick up some picks and a extra capo and the guy behind the counter asked if she was gonna learn to play Taylor Swift and she looked him straight in the eye and said... "nope.... David Gilmour" and walked away. Dude looked at me and said "that's the coolest shit I've ever heard a little girl say!" I told him that's all she knows is what I play and listen too.

Nice! I have an "Infinity" Series squire that I had setup. I really like it.
But my mid "80's" ibanez roadstar is my fav. Had it 16 yrs now.

Wow, after 4 years on TW, I have not seen this thread.

I have a few guitars, no vids or anything. I have an old MySpace page for a 2-piece "Metal" band my brother and I did years back https://myspace.com/frozeninlight/music/songs

Anyway, I have my trusty old Ibanez RG320 that is 13 years old that I just finshed refurbishing:
    - New Gotoh GE1996t Bridge w/ a 33mm Brass Block
    - New Gotoh 43mm nut
    - New (to me) V7 / V8 pickups that I swapped magnets in (Ceramic 8 for the V7, and AlNiCo 8 for the bridge).
    - New Volume and Tone Pots with a 440pf Cap on the Volume and .022 uF cap for the Tone

Also just picked up an Ibanez RGT6EXFX neck-through for cheap that I am going to strip and refinish with a trans.black sunburst aniline dye and clear poly coat it. I have some new upgraded parts to go on that one too.

Finally, my "nicest" guitar is a BC Rich Bich, 10-string neck-through. I played with 10 strings for a few months, but it was hard to "shred" with that many strings, so I replaced the bridge with a Schaller 456 and converted it to a 6-String.

Never seen this thread before, why isn't this thread under "Music"?

Besides mainstream rock and roll tabs, sometimes I like downloading goofy tabs like "The Beverly Hillbillies" theme, "The Loveboat" theme (I've had that tab for 6 years and I still can't through that song without cracking up; I challenge anyone here to really cheese it up and see if you can get through the whole song), Mothers of Invention "The Air", etc.

How do you feel about the brass block in there now?

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
It's hard for me to gauge how much the brass block affected the tone, since I did so much at the same time (new bridge, nut, pickups, strings and pots). The tone overall is night and day compared to what it was. It had 13 year-old Powersound pickups and the dreaded Lo-TRS II Tremolo that would never stay in tune (my biggest pet peeve ). Now it sounds very rich, full and there is great defnition between the lows/mids/highs (no muddiness). The way I wired the pickups gave me a variety of tones, from hi-gain bridge leads to surfy-twang to deep/rich cleans. I followed this wiring configuration and was pleased with the results.

I will say the Gotoh bridge is better than many other Floyds IMO, even the German-made OFR. It feels great on my palm, VERY stable tuning, high quality construction and flawless machining.

A few things I like about it (compared to other Floyds):
    - Excellent construction, specially processed steel saddles
    - Great Tremolo arm adjustment and tightening
    - Brass Block is standard and comes in different lengths for different body thicknesses (33mm, 36mm, 40mm)
    - Locking tremolo studs (set screws tighten the stud firmly into the body anchor)
    - Tremolo spring screws "lock" the springs into the block. I've never had a spring fly out or come loose, but I could see this being better for tone and transferance of the resonant vibration.

Not for me. Just basic stuff. Some drop D is about it. I barely turn on my recording eqpt anymore. Just sit down, play a few simple songs and put it up.
I have amassed quite a bit of fancy footpedals, 4, 8 and 16 track recorders and stuff. But lately i am just plugging directly into my Peavey Supreme head and XXL 4x12 cab. I guess i'm going back to my roots.
